It seems to work when 1 half does most of the kicking and the other has a strong running game so this duo could definitely get it done

How much do people tend to leave in the war chest?
I remember to start off my rookie rubbish year last year, I only had about 5-10K to try and recover from all my rd 1 mistakes (plus using 2 trades every week for the first 8 or 9 weeks).

I know some factor in a set amount left over as part of their strategy but personally i just go with whatever is there once I'm happy with my team. Could be 0, could be 100k. I just get my side to as close to settled as I can before i even consider whether i want spare cash as it gives me a better picture of what I'm sacrificing for that cash. Though i guess I'd probably be comfortable with 20-30k if i had to pick a number.

I want to apologise to everyone in league 1 last year, i had a shocker! Worst year since my first i think.

Without looking through 180 pages, whats everyone think about cleary? Second year syndrome? Or only going to be better for the experience?

Mate, L1 had heaps of seasoned veterans get reamed, so don't worry about it.

re Cleary, was deadset going to have him as my gun half all off season but probably going lighter in the halves now.

I have too many questions about Cleary repeating last years efforts. I would rather spend the money on 'proven' guns to start the season.

I am trying to take less risks where I can help it this year.

Id assume teams will target him less in D this year and concentre on exploiting TMM and Cartwright combo on the other side

I'm not sure Cleary has a lot of upside.

May well repeat last year's efforts but don't see him improving on them, so can wait and see with him, and bring him in later in the year if he is still gunning it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Mortimer posting up decent scores when he was starting hooker at Titans before his injury?

I have a vague memory of having him in my team and being relatively pleased with his scoring.

I thought he was averaging 40ish point scores.

Yeah had my team setup all wrong to start the year, made up abit of ground over the byes but used too many trades fixing my initial team aswell as getting shafted with injuries early in the season.

Im not sure about my no1 half yet but thinking cleary if hes playing in the halves with TMM could be gold. Ben hunt cant be as bad as he was last year although his head might be already at the dragons.

Thinking of playing Slater as my 4th WFB but as a scoring reserve. If he plays I think he has more scoring upside than similarly priced forwards, and having him on the bench takes some of the worry out of what to do if (when) he goes down injured.

I actually dont mind the cleary pick.
Should be partnered with either tmm or carty so will do bulk of kicking, will do alot of defending, panthers have a good early draw and i think they will be a team that scores plenty of points.

Aubo's priced at a 37.5 average. I'd still be a little weary of him because Watson is a bit too small to be playing centre reliably but he's filled in at fullback before so he could be the new man to slot in for backline injuries. I think Aubo's a good choice personally and I'd put him in if it wasn't for the fact Sione Mata'utia is much cheaper as a potential keeper centre.

Keep your eye on Ryan Matterson though. I don't think Robbo will run with 2 bench utilities but Matterson is a really good player, can and has played 80 in the back-row plus he did well filling in at centre so he's the new Aubo essentially. If he also makes the bench then you wouldn't need to worry because Matterson's the new Mr Fix It

Yeah he always looks tempting.....i dont think i can do it to myself 3 years running lol

thats the way i remember it, a nice number of tackles and bonus attacking stats, not afraid to take the line on

not sure how those attacking points will translate at the sharks, but i think there is money to be had if he plays 50 mins which i dont think is unreasonable

30k minimum. Needed to dump Nathan Green after Round 1 last year and managed to pick Paul Carter up because I'd kept some cash around. I like saving for a rainy day

Morts scored well playing 80 minutes in the half or hooker. 40s

wont get the km and wont tackle enough in 50 mins to get past 35 points. not worth the risk imo

I like this idea, came up with this:

    Smith McInnes
    McGuire Gurgess Hoare npr
Surgess ET KBrom SMat npr npr
    Norman Taylor Elgey Hingano
    Whare Idris Scott Rennings
Rts Hayne Turbo Slater npr 1k

I really like this team, feels quite balanced, has dpp in wfb/centres, 4 decent reserves. Need to keep an eye on Gurgess but there's a few options below his price if I want to change or keep a war chest. thoughts?

Last year for the titans he played 50mins twice
    Round 1 30 tackles and 40 points
    Round 4 37 tackles and 56 points.
