@Pookus McFly RFM is one I have me eye on too.
The dogs do need a bit of spark, but I think their fans are a bit melodramatic about they situation. There are several clubs that would love to be in the "crisis" that the dogs are in now

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 4
It's not a crisis, just playing well below our standard.
If our attack clicks we will put a dent in the competition. If it doesn't, he won't be in the finals.
Simple as that

A couple of points
- our forward pack is the least of our worries
- Eastwood just signed a new contract, and one of our best performers last season
- he is arguably our most mobile forward, even with his size
- if RFM does indeed start, he will not get the minutes he needs for good scores
- we have the worst bench in the comp, expect big minutes from the entire starting pack
That is my point, if he gets the gig on the edge, he will go nuts with the kinds of minutes Des will give him.
You obviously know more about that doggies pack than me, I just seemed to remember Eastwood being in and out of that position last year, I thought perhaps Des was shuffling him around. Turns out he just had hamstring issues .

I know those two points sound contradictory to each other. But it all depends if Eastwood starts or not, which I'm fairly confident he will.
Meaning the starting pack will get big minutes.
IF Eastwood is on the bench, he will chew in to a lot of RFM's game time

completely agree, making the grand final as often as not and still most fans think their team is in meltdown. Just needs some tweaks. Maybe an RFM here and there...

Got $200 on them (The Knights) to take out the spoon @ $1.90 with Sportsbet.
Would put more on it but the odds have now dropped to $1.67.

Yeah I see what you are saying, I agree that RFM on the bench is a no go. Doggies starters all have a lot of stamina and don't leave much time for the impact players to do their thing. Eastwood played more minutes than I gave him credit for on further inspection. Love players like RFM in my fantasy side though, and Eastwood doesn't quite fit in with my plans. Des can be so selfish sometimes.

If the Dogs dont change their style they will make the bottom half of the 8 but wont go much further. Their style is perfect to beat the avg teams, which gives them enough wins to make finals, but not good enough to constantly challenge the top teams.

Didnt Josh Jackson unlodge a permanent starter the year after his rookie year? Or did they leave? I'm just looking to see if Dessie might do the same.
No reason Beastwood doesn't start on the bench and still get good minutes.
Look I have no idea about the bulldogs forward plans this year but a lot of times last year Tolman played the first 60 straight then Browne came on.
With the bench they'll have this year I don't see why Eastwood cant come on at lock to give Klemmer a spell then When Klemmer comes back to the field Eastwood takes that last 20 from Tolman that Browne would have.
Leaves both the 80min edge roles of Jackson and RFM and Dessie always had a forward on the bench that got dick all minutes so Elliot might take that role

Yeah but most of that just involves finding some creativity in attack and posting points. Marching up to the other end of the field through the middle was always a pretty effective strategy for the dogs, so i wouldn't expect as many changes (if any at all) to the forward pack. They really need to sort their halves and backs out. It is a mystery why it doesn't click to a greater degree, they certainly have the players to make a top 4 side on any given year.
Edit: You do have somewhat of a point though, the dogs only won 4 out of 11 games against top 8 teams last year

Just as long as Des doesn't cut Klemmer minutes because I just selected him in Ultimate League draft!

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 4
Can someone discuss the merits of Merrin as a fantasy option this year? I feel like he flew under the radar for a substantial part of last season and haven't seen many (if any) Panthers mentioned as yet

Re: 2017 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 4
I think Merrin is a solid option.
Solid 50s most of the time with the occasional massive score and rarely dropping below 40.
Not sure he'll improve massively on last years 55 average but shouldn't drop too much either.
Most people seem to prefer Surgess, JDB, Mannering or Bodene in that price range.
I think I'd rather Surgess and JDB, with Merrin 3rd in my list after that. I imagine most people will probably want him in their final 17.

slow start to last year for Mez if i recall, should be nailed on for origin if he carries his mid and backend form into this year
