Carter Award
After a 3 week break the Carter Award returns in its own thread. Halves are dominating the awards this year and it was no different this week with Gareth Widdop taking it out this week. Weeks 2-4 I was on holidays so not sure of accuracy so if its not right just drop a post.

Goes on minutes played. If still equal then judge's decision is final

Re: Carter Award
Thanks BT,
Widdop had a great game on the weekend, he definitely deserves an award for his performance

I feel like we need to start an awards categories and nominations thread now rather than forget everything that happens in the next six months. Add to it as we go like the "big calls" thread and the funniest post thread.

On the Turner award; not sure if it is possible to get this stat but I'd love to see who has the most minutes lost to HIA - guessing SMat is killing this category

I'd honestly want to name it after Josh Miller. Lad loved to tackle with his head
Think it ended his career actually, poor bloke.

I copied this for you re your question. (from after round 1)sets wrote:love the carter award. What about players who equal? Like round 1 has a few guys on -16
The Carter Award is simply just a weekly acknowledgement of a player who accumulates the highest amount of negatives in a score. If equal the player who was on the field for less minutes gets the lollies, but if there is still a tie (like this week), then I made the executive decision to award the prize to the player with the lowest of the ties scores, and this week it goes to Tyrone Peachey. Tyrone, James Maloney, Brock Lamb and Bryce Cartwright all tied with -16 and they all played 80 min, but I decided the Peachman can have it for his 24 point round.

Obviously.
In fact, it is almost worth naming a 'SI Award' in honour of the flaccid one himself, basically to the most softcocked NRL player of the moment.
Thinking blokes like Idris when he seems scared to be tackled, Klemmer for his bitch slap, JDB for his feather like tackles, or Woodsie for his pillow-esque 'hit-ups'.

Doesn't seem right that Widdop gets the award after having a blinder in that game lol

Re: Carter Award
Haha was looking through some old threads laughing at all the Paul carter abuse and came across what may have been the founding moment and what started this all.
I believe when I mentioned this 'award' it was aimed at how many errors Cartwright had made after a week of Carter errors so was throwing it as an insult. Who knew such a throwaway comment would be an actual thing still to this day
Love how it has blossomed into a thing of beauty, if only Paul knew how he inspires haha.
Another week later and it could have been the Bryce Cartwright award
Though I do like the sound of the 'Tickle Tackle Club' too haha
Anyways keep up the good work blue

So Carter Award could have been Carty Award.
Best it landed how it did.

Re: Carter Award
The Carter Award this year has been a shootout between the halves with this week been no different.
The week started off with the very popular DPP Sione Mata'utia posting a reliable score only hindered by a -18 in negatives.
This was soon beaten by everyone's favourite bubble head Blake Ferguson with a -22.
Not too be outdone however was the usual reliable and first time winner Ashley Taylor with a -24, even out negativing his popular picked teammate Kane Elgey.
Other notable performances came from the Elijyah Taylor (-22) and the James Maloney (-20) who never fails to feature in the weekly calculations

Re: Carter Award
This weeks Carter Award was a relatively low scoring affair compared to previous weeks with the winner accumulating -20 in negative points. It was actually a tie between 2 team mates who both played 80 minutes but the eventual winner ended up with only 25 points for their fantasy coaches.
James Maloney, after many close attempts has finally got on the board this year ahead of Wade Graham. Every week Maloney has been in contention and he is trying pretty hard to get this Award changed into his name. He is currently the most penalised player in the NRL and has missed more tackles then any other player so for this year.
James Maloney, hold your head up high, congratulations on this weeks award.
