Dude, if Brown is out this week I'd ditch him. I said the same last week too. Too much money tied up on the bench and still two more Byes to come. Big ? over whether you'd want him in your final 17 too right? so you may well have to trade him out anyway.
Thanks for the feedback. You make a great point. He still has two byes to come and you would think Vaughan or James would score more points from now till seasons end.

Might change my mind last minute like I did last week and trade in Tedesco and Cleary for Lamb and Cotric.

Wacko just tweeted J. Reynolds outside chance to play this week so Frawley back to the bench I assume.

    Yep,

if Brown isn't named this week I will be trading him to Vaughan.
Was happy to hold him for a week but no longer.

The catch is that if you swap your captain for a playing reserve (hooker or not) then you will be left with only 3 reserves, as your captain will not become a reserve if subbed out.

You can get around this easily by just manually adding a 4th reserve yourself after making the swap. Otherwise you'll just be left with 16 players in action

The reason this can be an issue is that if you only have 3 reserves selected and all your selected players score, you don't get an AE. You'll need to select a new reserve on a bye/injury force the AE to come into play.
That is what caught people out last year. They ended up only fielding 16 scoring players, so didn't get an AE.

(NB this is how it worked last year, haven't tried it out this year)

I don't know about any captaincy loophole,

BUT I accidentally only had 16 players last round. I don't know why it saved as not having 4 reserves and I still got my AE. It was super lucky because it was SJ

grr, hoping not. I was really keen to get a reasonable score out of him this week. BE of 0 as well would be a nice little cash jump if he can score 40.

I had resigned to the fact that he won't be much use from rnd 15 onwards.

Not pointless but yes, that is the main idea of the loophole.

I would essentially be using Teddy as a VC. Smith bangs out 45+ and I'm happy enough.
Smith plays limited minutes and scores 35-40 then I loophole and Teddy should make that at minimum and possibly pump out a 90, who knows.

Rather using Teddy/Johnson as a back-up captain as opposed to hoping Smith scores big.

Smith plays first so must be your VC. If he does poor then no loophole and your stuck with whatever C scores in this case Teddy. Loophole only used when VC playing before C scores well

OK the first two trades I looked at are as follows:

    Fifita ---> Brown
    Before I traded:

    Fifita: 53.8
    Brown: 48.8

    After:

    Fifita: 75.5
    Brown: 23.5 + injured indefinitely

    Cotric ---> Leilua

    Before:
    Cotric: 37.7
    Leilua: 41.3

    After:
    Cotric: 39.4
    Leilua: 17.8

That's all exactly right and is how I am using it.

Should've put "loophole" in quotations as its not loopholing, its not using the loophole, it's leaving my team as is.

My first intention is to loophole Smith (vc).
Teddy (c)/Johnson (c) is my #2 option if Smith scores poorly.

Doing it this way gives me a backup option. I can't loophole if I have Cam as captain straight up as Storm play first.

Well hopefully it can wait a week as I need to play Frawley this round. Even if not at least his BE is nice and low so I can ride as many price rises as possible before cashing out.

Option A: Trade Brown and Suli for Vaughan and Munster

Option B: Trade Aubusson for Taumalolo and cash out Niko

Option C: Trade Niko and Aubusson for Cleary and Merrin

Option D: Trade Niko and Suli for Cleary and Munster

I personally don't like the trades involving Aubusson.

He's a keeper at C which is pretty hard to find. He also still has good bye schedule! He will most likely go back to his 80min edge forward roll this week and for the rest of the season. The only issue, which you've seen this week is that it appears he is still Mr Fix it and will therefore likely fill in at C in round 18. I think that is a waste of his talents personally Roosters could have done with his tackling skills closer to the ruck in that last game IMO.

So, if I had to chose from the rest without seeing your complete side I'd probably go with D and look to go Brown to Vaughn next week if Brown is not back.

Although I jumped up rankings from 1200 to 400s I'm dishearted by the fact that all 3 trade ins last week were duds (JGraham, CWalker, Surgess).
Pretty much killed my motivation since Friday

I had Gallen and captained him so was pretty stoked.
Unfortunately my team this week is looking a little worse for wear.

Only 13 trades left too. Keep telling myself I'll have more at this stage of the season but barely ever happens. Sad

Hoping to have 5-6 trades left after the byes and hopefully a half-decent 17 for the run home.

Yeah apparently Cartwright went to a specialist last week to determine whether his knee needed surgery or not. He must need surgery.

Im no expert on excel or any of those documents, however I reckon someone who is could easily enough create a document that determines the Curse factor at the season.

Using the weekly BEs (as well as the price and scores of players at the end/start of each round) you'd be able to assign a value per round per player that measures improvement vs drops (curse/gift factor).

Using excel magic/trickery you'd be able to create a document where you put in the trades you made throughout the season. The link to the Curse/Gift Factor will be able to determine who in fact is statistically the most cursed forum poster. OR who has the midas touch.

As a side bonus, it should be able to articulate the best possible path a team could have taken through the season.

This is me hypothesising, im sure it could be done, but it would take a fair bit of time to set up. Also needs to be done at end of season. Unless you want a mid season review.
