Anyone without Smith who are you captaining. My choices are between Taupau, Taumalolo, Surgess or Crichton but I think I might go Crichton who will be running at Moylan all day. The 3 games Moylan has played in the halves he has missed 13 tackles so I think Souths will target him. Thoughts & thanks.

That's nonsense. Agree with SI... He WAS a workhorse and machine. At the Warriors he looked like he was going to be anything early doors. Came to Penrith at a time when he was a 2RF listed as centre and almost a must own alongside likes of Nathan and Ben smith and Mannering who were similarly out of position fantasy options
Milch or ST or someone might have the related stats 6,7 years ago, but stats aside he always passed the eye test
I seem to remember he was a 40s average when playing 80
Yep.
So putting this in perspective, he was a second rower on the field listed as a centre in DT. There were no TB's and tries were 4 points and the average TOTAL score for the week was around what, 600?
So we used to get excited about joining the 800 Club, not the 1000 Club.
Like GM said, there was Manners and Blowe and NSmith as well listed the same way. Hitting a 40 in your Centres was absolute fucking gold!
This is also back when Slater was pretty much the only Fullback worth having as most averaged around 25.

Jeeze 2009 was it that long ago.
He was largely pretty ordinary at panthers too often a utility except for his first year when he saw some good gametime. He was excellent at warriors though and only reason in this conversation so much. I'm not buying him for 2017 fantasy FYI just loved him as a player yesteryear
Just thinking of some of the other guns from that era that have long left the fantasy collective consciousness:
Terry Campese
Jamie Soward
Cameron Ciraldo
Ben Smith
Matt Hilder
Bronson Harrison! Had a ridiculous season and a half when he moved to the Raiders then someone flicked a switch and he became a shitto overnight.

How did you end up messing up your centres??TheWeapon wrote:For the first time this season I'm struggling to pick my team! Embarrassment of riches almost. Apart from my centres, which suck no matter which players you choose...
McInnes
N.Brown, JBrom
Taumalolo, Gallen, Surgess, (Crichton, Taupau)
Munster, SJ
Fuimaono, Leutele (or Scott or Griffin if they play)
Edwards, Gutherson, Mansour
Trying to pick last 2 reserves out of: RTS, A.Reynolds, Ma'u, JWH
I was going to say Arey and RTS are no brainers but I just noticed Mau has been pumping out some solid 50s. I'd go Mau then because I don't think RTS will sneak in for a try to get his pts total over 40 this week

Even with Smith I'm thinking of going Lolo because of the lingering injury concerns of Cam. Hopefully we'll all find out if he's playing before round starts just in case. I can see your case for Crichton as Captain, although you could argue the same for Surgess? They'll probably both score 60 then it won't matter lol

All this talk of DT guns back in the day. Not sure what year it was but I used to play Foxsports Fantasy (or whatever it was called). Luke Douglas and Bull Bailey were the front rowers to have. Mick Gordon was pumping out crazy scores at fullback for the Panthers. For a couple of years there Ash Graham and Jamie Buhrer were two players I always started the season with.

Yes! Stagg Bag.
Also, not a gun, but one of my great fantasy triumphs was having Will Zillman when he ran in a massive score. Still got a (ironic) soft spot for the Zip Zip man.

Re: 2017 NRL.COM Fantasy Thread 54
In 2014 I needed a cash-out and so I went for Zillman who actually got his biggest score of the year during a bye round.
Also the masterstroke time I was tossing up between Kevin Gordon and Isaac De Gois for a bye round purchase. It was my first year playing fantasy and I didn't quite use the logic a WFB would not outscore a HOK but I went with Gordon anyway on a gut feeling. De Gois barely cracked 30 while Gordon got a try or maybe two for a score in the 40's.
Nothing beats owning a successful POD but a feeling that comes close to it is nabbing a good scoring bye round cash-out.

Vaughan out for 4 weeks.
Sironen out for 8 (?) weeks, LeBrown named to start in his place.
Graham out for 3-4 weeks.
Cam Smith in doubt.
Kata still unavailable so CNK still named to start.
SKD signed with Knights immediately.
Cam King named at hooker for the Eels.

He was one of those players who started off great for fantasy then just became a terrible scorer.
Zillman in his first stint at the raiders and the Sharks fullback/half who quickly ended up in ESL. Kelly?

Gee people on here have good memories. I can hardly remember what happened last week but what I can remember what a long drop Feleti Mateo was. Years ago I needed about 20 points to win a h2h & he was playing for the Warriors & they had the last game & he ended up scoring 14 points. Back then I had a no Warriors policy but at the time he was gunning it in the 2fr so I got him in & the wanker scores 14 points as my only Warriors player.

Sharks player I was thinking of was Brett Kearney. Was awesome when he first moved to the sharks.
It was 2007.
Shit that was 10 years ago.
Fuck.
