What does everyone think about Merrin?

What are the chances of him keeping up with Mannering from here on? If I turn Graham into him rather Mannering I save 91k, have another scorer this week and have cash left over to use elsewhere. Going with Mannering leaves bugger all itb and with 5 trades left I'll have to use one of them as a cashout to raise funds.

Merrin looks enticing but his scores and minutes have been so inconsistent this year I'm not sure if I can trust him.

I guess it comes down to if you want Munster in your final team. If you do, you'll have to take a hit I'd say, but then next week, relying on Vaughn to come back is risky. Anyone else you can trade?

He's definitely more of a gamble than Mannering, but with Peachy in the centres for a month, it could see his minutes increase. He was a gun for the run home last year. but has been below par this year. I'd rather Mannering though, but there's nothing saying that he can't match Mannering type scores from here on out.

    J. Papalii is the same price as Merrin, plays 80 mins, has lower ownership & averages 7 points higher than Merrin & 4 points lower than Mannering. Papalii probably more of a chance to keep pace with Mannering than Merrin.

Merrin will lift for the rest of the season. He was much improved last game. Same with Jake Friend. Back to back games of 65 tackles! They must of enjoyed the donuts.

Actually I do agree re Merrin. From memory the last couple of years he really steps it up fantasy wise from around this stage of the season. Also it seems Friend is playing 80 mins even with Watson on the bench.

I picked up Merrin after Origin last year and he gunned it.

Yeah he's another option altough he doesn't play this week. In his last 4 games he's only hit the 50's once and that was only just which is a bit concerning.

Not sure what to do, Graham has stuffed me up good and proper.

If memory serves me correctly Jarryd Hayne is another player who has a track record of improving after origin each year. He has definitely improved over the last two weeks. Could be a cut price options for those who can't afford Mansour or TTrbo.

I'm planning on getting him next week.

I need a HLF for next week, do I trade Guth for 1 of Reynolds, DCE or Hunt or take the hit and wait til round 20 and bring Pearce in? Playing H2H and really need a win next week.

Friend is tempting me with the VC. When Pearce was out during Origin 1 and 2 Friend had way more kick metres and will definitely play 80 you'd think.

If I had Friend, I'd have the VC on him.

Problem is I can't captain Crichton or Surgess so I'd have to put the C on someone like Edwards or Brown.

All this Merrin talk & remembering how well he goes after origin has me tempted to go:
Wallace out - Merrin in (via Taupau)

Croker failed a first-half concussion test against the Cowboys but will be fit to face St George Illawarra after the Raiders' bye this weekend.
