Yeah, Hybrid Theory was the first album I can remember going to the shops and having to sneak around to buy myself because mum wouldn't get it for me on her usual shop trip after hearing One Step Closer on rage (I believe her exact review was "noisy rubbish").
Hybrid and the Collision Course collab with JayZ was pretty influential to my music as I was growing up - I know young ryno would have been pretty torn up this morning.
Hybrid Theory was the first album I owned myself. A mate sold me it for $5 after he got bored with it. Haven't put it on in a long while but I exepct it's still one of my most listened to albums.
And yeah, I expect my mum gave it a similar review.

What gets me about these famous celebrities that kill themselves because they're depressed. How can you be depressed when you have millions of dollars. So boo fuckin hoo you have alcohol & drug problems. Stop thinking about yourself & your pain you ass hole & just think the pain & misery you're are going to leave for your family & friends who will have to deal with your death for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately, yes, it is heartbreaking and not really fair to the ones that are left behind, but remember that we don't know what goes on behind closed doors and particulary what goes on in other peoples heads. I'm sure if it was as easy as that suicide wouldn't happen, and most of us have the thought processes to realise what devestation ending your own life would cause to everyone around. But for people to actually go through with it, it's obviously not as easy as telling them just to 'suck it princess.' It does seem selfish on the outside but to leave behind a family that loves you, there was obviously something very, very wrong. Money isn't everything either. Yes, I'd love to have their bank balances but I don't think money buys happiness as much like us average person that needs to work to pay the bills and earns a living thinks.

Whilst I kind a think the comments are above are in poor taste. I agree with the whole selfish thing. My bug bear is that there are crazy restrictions journos have about reporting in suicide. Mostly, they cant report on suicide acts, unless its in public interest (so basically just for celebrities). And they have to arbitrarily add a comment about life line, like that makes a difference to people.
So essentially, the only thing people see about suicide are the of celebrity figures, with no mention of the devastation left to those closest. The focus shouldn't be to honour them and the success they had, its too late for that. This only glorfies the act. The focus needs to be on the actual outcome. To bring this back on topic, having influential figures like GI open up about depression, and the impacts it has had and that there is light at the end of the tunnel, that's what should be getting attention.
Anyway. What would I know.

Anyone know anything about Moses Suli's absence? Thought I read last week he had an ankle injury, but I can't find anything listed about how long he might be out?

That's a fairly ignorant view to have to be honest. Millions of dollars doesn't equate to happiness. That's like saying how can you be happy when you're poor.
Suicide is an irrational and permanent solution to what might be just temporary problems and it is incredibly selfish but humans are inherently selfish and few people in that frame of mind can be expected to make logical, well thought out decisions. Heck they might genuinely feel they're doing their family and friends a favour as they're better off without them as a burden in their lives.
I'm not saying all people who commit suicide should be given immense sympathy. People who decide to commit suicide via someone else really grinds my gears e.g train or car, as they ruin a strangers life to end their own.
However lacking empathy entirely isn't the way to go. Would you tell a friend who was thinking of killing themselves "Boo hoo mate you're drinking too much, why don't you consider us before you neck yourself?"

I know this is being said from a good place on your behalf WL so don't take this response as a negative one directed at you (it's certainly not) BUT...
Cliched as it is, money can't buy you happiness. And drug and alcohol abuse is very often but a mask to hide other, much deeper issues. The problem with mental health issues and suicide is that you actually cannot see the pain and suffering that it will cause others because you cannot see past your own pain and suffering.
A very good friend of mine in China took his life about 6 months before I left to move back to Australia. The guy was a very famous clothing and shoe designer, designed for Prada, Rossignol, DKNY, Kenzo, Helmut Lang etc etc... Needless to say he was loaded. He had a lot of friends, was respected amogst his peers in his profession and lived life to the fullest. He also had massive issues. He was manic depressant. Drugs were like candy. Both medicated and recreational. He was a diagnosed schizophrenic as well. He would come to the bar I owned almost everyday and drink like a fish and we'd sit and shoot the shit together for hours on end. He would often speak about how hard things were and how tough a time was having and we would always talk with him and do everything we could to help (we already knew this was a path he was willing to walk down, he'd made that clear). In the end tho, he couldn't see past his own hurt.
I guess, to be honest, talking may not always help. It may not stop it from happening. But at least try. I urge everyone just to ask a mate, R U OK? And if they ain't, have a chat with em, mention the Black Dog Institute, LifeLine etc. It may be an awkward conversation for manly blokey mates to have but fuck your sensitivities, it may save a life.

Agreed, we have an entire forum to discuss this other stuff and it always seems to end up in the one thread.

Some people with kids who have committed suicide have gotten to the point where they've genuinely believed their family is better off without them.
Having lots of money won't change that view.

Warning for sharing depression experiences in this post
Depression is a dangerous disease. It literally fucks with your brain chemistry. A friend of mine has described it to me as thoughts literally invading his brain at times. He knows he's loved and important to people, but it can be hard to hold those thoughts in his head when he's in a depressive state and his brain is screaming at him the opposite.
Depression is a disease, and like cancer it can affect you no matter how much money you have.

I think the majority here would want to consider this a safe space and if a a fellow forumite wanted to ask for help then they should be able to via PM, in this thread or any other thread because quite frankly this shit is way more important than how many points is Peace gonna get tonight.
I can understand not wanting politics or religion or something discussed in here but it's a bit of a cunt move to ask people not to talk about depression or mourn someone who's passed away.

Sorry if that was OTT. Nothing against anyone in here, personally don't think its something which should be dismissed from the thread because 'only fantasy talk plz'.
We talk a lot of shit in these threads. We always have. This is something that a lot of people feel strongly about given the last few pages of posts and there's nothing wrong (in my opinion) in letting it play itself out organically.

For many people, this thread is the only place that they visit on the forum. And efforts to get them to move off topic talk elsewhere is always shouted down.
Pretty much the only thing you aren't allowed to post in here is Game of Thrones spoilers.
