Re: 2018 Ladder predictor
Well here we are at the halfway mark of the season. For most of us our fantasy teams are shit, we're still desperately chasing cows despite not having enough trades left to cash them out and we have deluded ourselves into believing that extra $50k is going to be the diffrence that scrapes us into the top 1000.
But there is a shinning light. Many of us had the foresight that this very scenario could play out and rather than leave us dejected with no hope we predicted the ladder so we had something to believe in through till the end of the year.
With all entries tallied I took an average of all our picks.
As a collective our top 8 was cut and dried. While 1-4 were locks, 5-7 were interchangeable and 8 stood by itself.
Moving down to the also rans, 9 and 10 were almost inseperable. 11-13 were also hard to splt, 14 was clean cut and by 15-16 people were flipping a coin.
So all said and down this is how the forum thought the ladder would finish:
1 Roosters
2 Cowboys
3 Storm
4 Broncos
5 Sharks
6 Eels
7 Dragons
8 Sea Eagles
9 Panthers
10 Rabbitohs
11 Bulldogs
12 Knights
13 Raiders
14 Warriors
15 Titans
16 Tigers
Last year's winner took it out with a score of 48. With some some suprise packet teams this year, nobody looks like getting close to that. So here are teh standings at the halfway point:
@SoylentGreen 64
@Pookus McFly 70
@Cake Tiger 70
@Fortitude 72

Re: 2018 Ladder predictor
Another year and remarkably for the 3rd year in a row the winning score has ben 48.
After reviewing mid season I found an issue with the formula which was blowing the scores out and also a couple of people's entries had been corrupted. All fixed the final standings are below

only cookie and osm picked the Warriors to make the eight.
About 10 picked them for the spoon. Shame on you all.

They actually played up to their potential for a change, kudos to them. They will be one of the 2 maybe three sides that will drop out of the 8 for next year.

You and OSM share the bottom 4 placings alongside the intellectual pygmies of B/L and the thick crust, so careful where you throw that shade.

Re: 2018 Ladder predictor
pretty sure I was in the top few last year for it.. pretty tough to pick an order when the entire top 8 was decided on for and against.. but still, got the top 2 and 6 of the top 8 definitely ballsed up the order
congrats to the winners.. good job!

You made the top fucking 4 last year! Its well and truly reasonable to expect you to be in a similar position come the end of this year.
to say "oh pretty tough to pick an order when the entire top 8 was decided on for and against" is using hindsight to predict the past. Literally no one picked you to get the spoon and just no one predicted you to miss the 8.
You may have overachieved last year but far out you totally underachieved this year after the successes you had to build on in 17.
That said only LG, Studogg & Cake Tiger remained in the top 10 from lat year. With MTVB, Mr Fernando, Filth & yourself dropping from top 10 to bottom 10 so there's been a big shake up

yes mate but I lost my mind, my hair, my coach, my kids, my wife, my house, my erections, my balls - so its extremely reasonable to expect me to drop down the ladder

Yeah disappointing result for poor old OSM and my standard unbiased approach of tipping a Broncos minor premiership (comfortably).
I was going to claim the old 'surely the highest score is the winner' chestnut.....until I saw who had the second highest score.

Hindsight makes everything easier... but im more interested in the thought process behind picking the bulldogs to make the 8 tbh.

Look without discrediting the comp, by memory my thought process was generally along the lines of:
1. Pick the Broncos as minor premiers - approx. 15 seconds to type
2. Pick the rest - approx 1 min 30 seconds to type
Honestly not sure about the Dog's. I think I was impressed with the direction they had just taken off the field and I thought Foran (who I rate very highly) might have played more of a hand this year.

Yeah i figured that was the process behind the first place tip
