It’s a no for Hodgson for me, has never hit over a 50 avg without delving. He might start the season on fire but you can swing a stick at anyone and get lucky for a few games, fact is he always reverts to a similar season average.

For those considering Macca, he has 3 fantasy seasons going 55+ That’s enough for me to start season with him as my starting hooker and hoping he hits it again 50/50 shout that is.

I looked at Roosters early run last year and backed Manu for a purple patch opening to season, he was dire, then hit his straps.

Point is, opposition rarely plays into a fantasy performance

Animal but can’t see him getting the minutes without injuries. Bet he is in Milchs PPM beast Do Not Touch list with Kane Evans

I agree Welshy. The draw is only relevant for backs but when you have 2 backs & you can't separate them then byes & draw can be used to help in your decision. For e.g. J. Bird is cheap & could make a lot of money but the Broncos have a very tough opening 6 games so I don't see Bird scoring big or making a lot of cash.

Any thoughts on Christian Welch? Could pick up a few of Glasby's minutes, and has scored well with a longer run. At 416 he needs to score high-30s to get value, which is about 40-50 minutes on the park at his historical PPM.

I had my eye on Welsh in pre season last year, but I never ended up getting him. Will strongly consider him this year, but yeah, haven't looked at teams yet. On my watchlist.

It is probably a big year for him though.

Cheers guys. Will keep an eye on him. I had a quick look at the numbers for Hodgson and Macca and at this stage its Macca for me. I think the added advantage (beyond what has already been said) is that he provides a pretty solid Captain option too.

Always promises extra game time but never seems to materialise, if he could get 55 mins min. As a a guarantee I’d grab him

If Reed Mahoney gets that starting hooker role I’ll be making room for the kid no doubt, tackles everything

I wonder if Hampton locks down a starting centre role with tones and linnet gone. He scored 37.6 a game when starting and 39 when starting at ctr. Priced around 28 would be a decent middy option if he can keep up those scores. Without JT I think cows might go through more of a running game rather than kicking game this year so could be good for the outside backs.

White Lightning wrote:The Raiders opening draw is very nice & picking a couple of Raiders could be the go. Hodgson could be a good hooker choice especially since the Raiders play the first bye. With Wighton training at 6 it could also mean Hodgson takes on more of a play making role & stays on the field for 80 mins. He's also a very attacking hooker so the early draw will suit his playing style.
Based on the above statements on the Broncos then McCullough could be in for 80 mins. The Broncos have a very tough opening draw so that suits McCullough who will make 50 tackles a game. However the Broncos have a bye in round 12.
Based on the fact that Hodgson is 52k cheaper & he plays the first bye I might start with Hodgson as my main hooker.

Didnt the raiders have a nice draw to start with last season and lost all four?

Hodgsons last year scores are putting me off, but should go alot better with a full preseason.

If Whighton starts at 6 sezer is cheap enough to consider

Ive never been keen on picking a middy in the ctr position. Some of those 212k players could just score aswell.
I think if you gonna spend cash on this position go a keeper or stick with rookies.

In saying that though if Capewell lines up next to SJ then that middy is in my team

Yeah Lomax is a nice option but with a -2 and a 29 at NRL level there's not much to go off apart from a definitive starter, other than Lomax I can't really recall any other 212K Centres who are definitely starting, but i guess the trials will give us a good inclination as to where teams are heading this year. I think if Capewell gets the 2RF starting spot he is a shoe in for my scorer this year.

or if you like a Cricket/NRL crossober: de Cock is in my Haas

Yep. Things will change heaps through to season start but I'm fairly stuck on 2 of Lomax, Bird and Capewell. Capewell has missed out in earlier drafts as I stretched to bring in Crichton as a captain option. Finding a balance will be really tough

Those going for J. Bird. Siebold has said wants to get J. Roberts as much ball as possible to utilise his full potential so this could affect Bird's attacking stats.

So, Roberts gets early ball, makes 50m break, brought down on 10m line. Bronx quick shift left from PTB and bird scores walk over try +8, lb +4, and TB +3. Sounds good Smile

Yeah Garrick another one, haven't heard much on him yet as to the way he plays. I was told some time ago by someone that it was a fight between Garrick and Tavita Funa for that spot but looks as though Garrick has it sewed up. Also Bronson Xerri surely due for a debut sooner rather than later.

No way Xerri starts the season, but as soon as there is an injury and he is named, people will be on him like a rash.

This may of already been cleared up but Munster staying in the halves. FB is likely Hughes, but trials will be shared between Hughes and Drinkwater
