Remember this comp ??
It's a quarter of the way through
the season and it's time for an update.
Firstly, thank you to everyone who got involved and put in their ladder predictions. Every year we get more and more participants, this year hitting 36 with a late flurry of punters.
The number crunchers in here will tell you the wider the data set, the more accurate. But the more astute will tell you that once you have reached a certain % of the opportunity pool then the result doesn't change greatly. Well it seems we have hit that, because our combined picks this year appear similar to last year with the Fanatics team sitting on a respectable 68.
So what was the consensus ?
As far as percentages go based on punters picks, the top 3 were clear with Roosters, Storm & Broncos in that order. 4 - 6 were the Panthers, Rabbits & Sharks, then a gap to the Knights and Dragons rounding out the 8 with the Cowboys an outside chance.
Raiders and Sea Eagles were tipped to finish at the top of the "outside the 8", with the Tigers Titans & Warriors filling the "we weren't in contention for the 8 or the wooden spoon positions". As for the Eels & Bulldogs, I've seen more love for a meat pie at a vegan rally. Head and shoulders above everyone else for the last 2 positions.
So here is the Fanatics table as we see it.
Roosters
Storm
Broncos
Panthers
Rabbitohs
Sharks
Knights
Dragons
Cowboys
Raiders
Sea Eagles
Tigers
Titans
Warriors
Eels
Bulldogs
@Aardvark Ratnick is the early leader on a respectable 60, but still a way off the usual winning score of 48. But as they say the competition isn't won in April (unless you're the Dragons). Honorable mention to the elderly statesman
@Dip coming a close 2nd on 62. The front runners are followed by our carryover champ
@Pookus McFly on 64 and a pack of about half a dozen between 66 & 68 including blokes who make Aubbs look like a hand model such as
@Milchy @Honeysett and
@No Worries.
There's a saying "like shooting fish in a barrel". Well for god's sake someone shoot the barrel and put
@Mighty Fishes out of his misery sitting in last place on 94. And while I don't condone poaching you might as well make the money from
@rhinoceroo horn, because his 92 isn't going to keep him from extinction.
