Agreed. Just all this 'positive' attention he's getting will be fully going to his head. I reckon he's odds on to fuck up before the season even starts. He's be smarter to go to Brisbane I reckon.

Certainly - Bennett is the best mentor in the game but he may not want him, if he doesn't think Roberts will buy into the culture.
The other issue is that Roberts motivation for testing the waters appears to be financial and good luck to him given his stakes are currently the highest they have ever been.....but I can't see the Broncos entering a bidding war and paying overs.

Only clubs I've heard mentioned so far are Broncos, Cowboys and Souths.
Souths fans seem adamant he's headed there. Straight in for Walker.

I'd love to know how they can afford him if the Walker money was for Surgess?filthridden wrote:Only clubs I've heard mentioned so far are Broncos, Cowboys and Souths.

Filthy only referred to 'South fans' - so in fairness it's more likely an inability to count or use a calculator, rather than a blatant disregard for the salary cap.

Re: James Roberts
This offseason just shows how stupid the salary cap is and how easy it is to get around. Manly sign heaps of players sending them over the cap before they release players, Souths sign a guy for over a mil with only 500k - 600k registered but still need to release players and somehow are in the market for Roberts still. The Broncos cant afford Teo on a below market value deal yet are the most likely to sign a guy who was on 300k+ and just knocked back 500k

IF the Broncos do get Roberts we obviously will miss out on Teo. Also if your employer was signing contracts for you by faking your signature you would still stick around?Shanbon wrote:This offseason just shows how stupid the salary cap is and how easy it is to get around. Shanbon is only basing his claims on newspaper figures and gossip.
Bottom line is that the NRL is still the most even sporting code I can think of and there is still plenty of player movement.
Thus you can only assume that the salary cap is working and working well.
Probably the biggest discrepancies associated with performance at the moment, are directly related to how clubs are run off the field i.e. the Tigers and Eels.

Of course that would be your opinion supporting a team that has the 3rd largest city in the country and all it's TPA's to itself.Meanwhile in reality the competition is getting more and more lopsided by the year.Oz Sport Mad wrote:
