Thoughts on going early on Bateman? I know I 100% want him by next week but I need my 2 trades next week for other things and there's a chance he plays this week.

I have 24 trades left so i thought id do something drastic.

    Mann-havili
    Crichton-Brittain
    Cleary-JFH
    Xerri-AFB

    Rein
    Havili
    Afb
    Tapau
    Lolo
    Sutton
    Young
    Garrick
    Brittain
    JFH
    Arey
    Sivo
    Cnk

feeling like Tolman or Bateman could be a smarter choice than AFB

    Thoughts? Alternatives?

Ranked 5000's so looking to capitalize this round

Im joining the Havlli bandwagon with the rest of you so thats 1 trade for the first bye. 12 players for the first bye. 14 trades remaining.

That scenario in both players fielded, and trades remaining, would be a tick above average of serious players imo - and those grossly outweighing you in either category are likely a fair way off the pack. Just how this crazy game goes!

Look at his stats last year when Hodgson was out. Being a Tongan he's hard as rock & when he hits in defense the opposition feels it. When he hits the ball up again he's a Tongan rock so defenders are bumped off. And lastly he's creative from dummy half and as Run-D.M.C. says:

It's tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
Havili's tricky, he's tricky, tricky tricky tricky

This looks like a job for Havili
    So everybody just trade havili
Cause we need a little Havili
Cause it feels so empty without Havili

I kind of don't understand why Starling would get pulled from the game last week only to play 15 minutes off the bench this week?

    Going great man, well done!

Lawrie D Brown and LMartin all out for me. Not sure of the INs mate, but would be making sure I could grab Bateman if he plays, Britain sounds like a goer, and then one more. Go hard!

Today I'm going to reply in a mix of reason & song.

Because we're talking about Ricky Stuart. There were a lot of times last year that he didn't play his whole bench. I think that's where the Starling might only get low minutes theory is coming from. Steely Dan is mindful of Starling's quest for good minutes this week:

Ricky don't lose my shirt number
You don't want to call nobody else
Send it off in a letter to yourself
Ricky don't lose my shirt number
It's the only one you own
You might use it if you feel better
    When you get home

I think some tapering of enthusiasm on Havili wouldn't go astray either....

He averaged 41 last year as starting hooker which isn't enough to warrant a place in the starting 17. So you are buying him for his round 12 score + cash. You'd probably want to trade him out at round 16 so that gives him 4 rounds to make money. Perhaps $120k?

The question is, will he maintain that 40 point average or could he dip a bit? If he dips then I'd say he isn't worth the buy. Perhaps the key point is you have to tie a decent amount of money up in him to get him, compared to others that are available like Britain etc...

I also think you have to look at who you are giving up to get him. If you have a bunch of non-round-12 playing guys like Lawrie, LMartin etc ready to trade out then maybe Havili makes more sense. If you are only pulling one of two trades this week Im not sure he is as important.

Not sure if Havili is worth trade in as someone not worrying about the bye rounds. I do need another 100 grand or so to fund Xerri/Bateman in the next couple of weeks. My cows don't seem ready to sell yet though.
