My niche was Clawfoot bath restoration. No one else wanted to do it, because it’s hard. So I did. 60-80 hours a week, plenty of mistakes while learning the craft.

20 years later, life’s good. Own home on acreage, with pool. No debts. I still do the odd restoration job from home if I’m bored with golf, fishing, camping.

Well I work 7 days a week from 7.00am to 9.00pm & get a benefit paying $294 a week. So that's 14 hours a day & a 98 hours week & it equates to $3 per hour. Looking after old people with dementia is definitely not valued by the NZ government.
At least I found my niche Rabbit haha cheer

Absolutely. Having done it in the past the big thing to be aware of going in is keeping your Fridays off. I probably worked 1 in 3 of them when I was set up that way but even then it was still worth it.

I did 9 hours a day, 9 day fortnight in the previous gig. Was really good for family time.

But it was only possible because the job was lightweight. In the current role if I tried that I’d be making up weekend time. Be really careful of 10/4 turning into 11/4.5 .....

But totally worth it if you can be confident of holding the time!

I work at a University and do five 7-hour days so Im home at 4 and can spend time with my kids every day. I have a great boss though! That said, if I want my career to progress faster or if I want to do extra contract work, I do that after the kids are asleep, and typically do this most days. It's all just a balancing act to be honest, but having the flexibility to be home any time I want is such a great thing with young kids!

In the wake of the Arrow injury, Titans apparently arent relasing Max King to Storm until 2020.

I agree with this although I have to say there can be stresses going it alone. I've see a number of Dads barely see their kids cause they have to prioritise their business. And when work comes, unless you are very settled financially, you kinda gotta take it, whenever that may be.

Im lucky enough to have found something that bugger all people are doing and heaps of people want. I do it after hours and it pays 3 to 4 times more than my day job. It's contract work though so it comes and goes. I feel much better about having a salary day job as a safety net and then the self-employed contract stuff is extra.

If you are interested and in New Zealand PM me. Our group is getting overloaded with work so on the look out for the right person. Job requires computer literacy, preferably experience in SQL/SAS and solid quantitative skills.

TPJ’s role at lock / bench prop may lead to an increased role over Origin and injuries. But his effort, and correspondingly stats, is dire this year. If there’s any chance he’ll head back towards scoring strongly - and get that Chooks contract - then he’ll need to take it up hard and lead the tackles in the next few matches. A single strong showing might be enough to make me jump on him at ~500k.

I agree it's just like those stupid international breaks they have in epl fantasy. At least there's only 1 in the league compared to about 2-3 in the epl.

Would you guys spend the $100k on Matterson for Arrow? Or play it safe and go for Twal for the same $$. Other options at that price range is probably Crighton or SST, but Twal is safe as houses and DPP which is handy with Fifi out.

Thinking SJ + a cash out for round 16 for Havilii and Young. Might get Sam Burgess in as 18th man for the run home.

Salmon will likely lose spot as D Brown is due back for R15, Hutchinson is unknown with Keary due back in around R17 but should be fine - probably better to just wait until R16 and then you will actually know which cashouts are playing with team lists and which aren't

If you want R16 only someone like Jai Field should play HB with Hunt out and is dropping in price from when he was playing with Norman out because of interchange games

Man this rep round sucks as far as fantasy football goes. I know there's no point in checking my team or making decisions until Tuesday but I do it anyway.

At least it's healthier to whip out your phone and have another useless check of your team rather than lighting up a cigarette though. Everyone has a vice.
