NRL Fantasy 2019 Part 85

This whole Folau thing is fucking me right off! NRL are now blocking Tonga from playing in the World Nines comp because they are too afraid of it "tarnishing" their brand. It is an absolute disgrace that the NRL have allowed players in the past who have conducted DV offences, abused sports enhancing and recreational drugs and threatened other's life's to play in the NRL but they are blocking a player from playing who was expressing his religious beliefs, although not the nicest of beliefs, they are his. Whatever happened to freedom of speech? NRL are in such a bad spot at the moment with fans, media, staffers all fed up with their shit, I believe they are in complete turmoil and on the brink of a major meltdown! TURN IT UP

Australia doesn't actually have freedom of speech protections.
All those other players have apologised, been punished for their crimes and said that they won't do it again. Folau won't apologise to the people that he's offended and quite possibly hurt and won't commit to not posting the same rubbish again.
The guy is nothing more than a homophobic hypocrite who also happens to be a blatant liar.

The blocking of Tonga has barely anything to do with Folau - it's more based on how corrupt the Tonga board has been recently

Not really, up until Folau decided he was going to play for Tonga, all was okay and the players were ready to play. The RLIF actually chose to uninvite them due to Folau.

Show me where I defended Lodge? The fact is that Folau won't apologise and won't commit to not doing the same thing again. If he's not prepared to make that allowance than why should anyone hire him?
Trying to compare him to anyone else is totally ridiculous until the point where he admits his mistake and agrees not to do it again just like the rest of them did.
Without comparing him to anyone else can you name any legitimate reasons why the NRL or anyone else for that matter should take the chance on him? Even he hid say he wouldn't do it again he's a proven liar who you couldn't trust.

I can't fathom why people defend Folau or think the NRL owes him something even if he wasn't a bigot. He's the one who walked out on the game that made him for two other sports then expected to stroll back in like the prodigal son.

I appeared on that Folau list 5 times and wasn't offended (most of the population appears on there several times). Obviously that doesn't mean nobody can/shoud be offended.

I wish people would have just told him the bible is several centuries out-of-date and that even the church don't take it literally. But you know the Twitterverse and their love of outrage, indignation and victimhood.

His little nutter church still take it literally. They were renting from the uniting church who gave them the heave ho because of his shit.

Their best 27 players were boycotting, not ready to play at all. The local clubs in Tonga had disavowed the board too. The Tongan PM was intervening to sack the board because no one supported them. The RLIF had no choice to disinvite them until a new board was reinstated. I think the Folau stuff was just a parallel distraction. Now that the 27 actual NRL players are back in the frame, Folau won’t be picked anyway.
