Yeah I think teams that just put two guns at FRF did pretty well from memory.

This is the strategy I would always like to go with before eventually chickening out. Stacking the weak positions with guns rather than choosing specific guns. For example this year there doesn't seem to be any options for mid range halves so far with either guns or cheapies needed. Starting with DCE and Cleary has you pretty much locked in till the bye rounds

    1) Pick too many Raiders players
    2) Find out which poms Welshy is going to leave out even though he rates them and get them
    3) Second guess and Panic trade at every opportunity

So i guess that means... Williams and Wighton.

My plan is to start with two dominant halves like Cleary and dce. Im thinking most will run with one cheapy in the halves. This will rely on finding enough value in the forwards though

Its generally easier to find value in forwards than in halves, as the minutes discrepency is typically more apparent.

Getting your starting halves right can make a massive difference to how you start the year. It's probably the most difficult position to nail the right cheapie in, and it sucks when you pick a guy you hoped to get 40s from, ending up averaging 20s, while watching others who went with guns score 60s and 70s.

It's a hard position to fix up if you stuck with a dud. Last year I made sure I had at least one gun (DCE), which was great until he got injured.

Good position for finding some cheapies who have so many ways to score points mind, but have to nail the right ones as said.

I love George Williams but I think....he is priced too high for the risk

Think I'll have to start with Moses after the reward he provided me with last year, might of been my favourite ever trade in, going from turnstyle middie to uber half GUN

I'm tempted to start with Brimson and Luai in the halves.
At least these guys are not unknown quantities. We've seen Luai's potential, he does need to get the starting gig though

I think both will be in my squad to start the season

Me too mate, only traded him in as a short term play too and he just made it impossible to trade him back out!

His scoring though is up and down and he could be cheaper at some stage. Might be better to target him for round 12?

Last year it looked do good with Brown and Keighran, until they lasted 3 weeks each.

Those that got CHT in as replacement got a good 5 weeks in and then his scoring tanked

Any predictions for who you want to have in your final 18/19/20? Not hugely helpful due to form/injuries, but fill in the gaps...

    Cook
    Haas,?
    Tolo, Jurbo, Bateman
    Cleary, DCE
    Mitchell,?
    Ted, Turbo, RTS

    Smith, McInnis, SJ, Ponga,?,?,?, Loop

When you put it like this and I'll probably be starting with only 2, maybe 3 of these it looks pretty grim

Though I'd probably be getting Papenhuyzen and D Fifita and hoping they'd be keepers and have the whole season

Last year I'd probably say I thought I started with 4 keepers (Tedesco, Cook, Arrow, Fifita, of which I only kept Tedesco and Cook the whole season and it probably would have been better to sell Cook over Origin)

Milchy posted them earlier in the thread. Played 5 games in 2017 (all 80 mins) for 36.4 average. Not actually that promising. I would guess if Reynolds isn't allowed to play that it would be Mbye 60-65, Walters 15-20 mins (unless they moved player to lock or did some weird substitution)

It's probably hard to go past Fifita but Klemmer and Kapow would put up close enough numbers.

I think if no back row dpp centres pop up again, Esan Marsters might fill that spot if he's our goal kicker.

I think Matterson gives some 2rf coverage which isn't present there currently, and outside Moses could get those boom and bust scores you want in first looping position. Chricton another option.

    Possibly prefer Moses over SJ

I suppose if they're not running an outside back on the bench then if anyone 1-5, maybe even 1-7, gets injured then Mbye switches there, which is not a problem you normally have with hookers.
