Good luck finding 4 base priced backs to fill your NPRs with Question

sometimes you need to spend just a little more to find something worthwhile. I currently have Luai (as should everyone), Crichton, Saab and Magoulias (not a back, I know). The only one I am worried about is Saab, but thats $1.012M, about $100k above base priced nuffies. Even with Saab, he hasnt scored well in his past games, but not all cows need to go crazy to start with (in fact its kind of annoying when too many peak at once and you dont have the downgrades), so I am happy for him to sit there for 4 rounds until he inevitably scores a try or two and blooms late. People jumped off Sivo last year after two rounds and he went and scored a 72- which is ridiculous strategy. Just need to have patience with the backs, they are boom or bust. Plus i suspect the new attacking highball rules will favor a stringbean like Saab so he may well stay in my team

Just did closest to first draft with Merrin instead of Haas and only have 7k for 21st player. Oops. Will have to downgrade likes of Flanagan Friend etc by 240k or play likes of Luai in 17

Re Merrin I guess it’s gonna come down to how many minutes Isaac plays.

I can’t see Merrin getting less than 50mins, but if you’re gonna buy him you ideally want him playing a bit longer.

Agree, and getting rid of duds quickly too. Holland lasted one week, Edwards lasted two. It meant having to play Kahu but worth any points hit to get Bird, Burns and Lawrie in ASAP. Which is why I don't like a slow burning FRF in my 17. Do you really want a 25-30 point player stuck in your 17 for 6-8 weeks while they slowly make cash?

No. My only two solid rules this year are don’t waste money of centres and don’t waste money on bench forwards

I had Flegler last year for 10 weeks. He did just enough where I couldn’t get rid of him over prioritising moving on complete duds (my many centres lol) or injured players, but not enough to make him a useful part of my squad. This is why I’ve steered well clear of the Molo/Mikaele convos and then people getting excited about Kerr last night. As a consequence, I think the only way I can get Haas in and feel comfortable with the rest of my team is if a surefire 246k scorer comes through, like Grant with the swap deal. Until then, I’m taking my chances Haas doesn’t go completely off early, my cheaper captaincy option does well, and I hopefully get him at a discount down the track

I don't care if Merrin only plays 1 minute every week if he scores 50 points in that 1 minute. Obviously not a sustainable strategy, but minutes aren't the be all and end all

For a middle forward for example though minutes are important, say Tatola gets 35-40mins for example you’re unlikely to pick him up but if he gets 55mins then all of a sudden he’s of interest.

Yeah how many of those votes can after McInnes got busted?

I was running him too, thinking about Smith now, but don’t think he is as undervalued.

    Isaako may play wing
Croft I've gone off atm but might have to get instead of Cleary priced half to fit other players in
    Grant doesn't look like happening

Anyone down to talk some Brown?

Av. 54.3 for games >60mins last year but was obviously managed coming back from a big injury
in 2018, games >60 mins he averaged 57.5
in 2017, taking out one injury-affected game he averaged 58.1

Averages 35 tackles and 150RM just about every year, attacking stats negate his demerits by about 2 points.

Injury free I think he goes about 50-55 points and his main attribute is consistency. I think he looks good next to a Fifita who will no doubt be more volatile in his scoring.

Just the one bad injury in 2019 scaring people off or the new changes to Eels pack (Matterson, RCG)?

Anyone thinking of going down to Brown town with this clown?

You know what, I really only like the balance of the rest of my team if I have Merrin/Mofo/Knight/Woods/Uele. I'm just gonna have to wait and see how it pans out and pick the best of those closer to the time. I'm just so fucking impatient.

Twice last year did not work well for me...

If D Fifita did not exist I’d be considering him a lot more.

I think he's a very solid pick. Was in all my early drafts before I managed to sqeeze Lolo in there. Should be at least a few points unders, reliable scoring until he plays 12. I don't think he's necessarily injury prone either. I mean he's had rib cartilage, ankle, pectoral - just unlucky really, not one of those chronic knee, back, hammy problems.
