We don't really have board meetings. Or maybe we do and I'm not invited. That would be embarrassing!

No, apparently fighting it out with MCK for a spot.
I think he will get it though. But plenty of alternatives if he doesnt

Cheers mate. I've had one spot open for Leilua/Hess/Williams/Cartwright for a while now. I figured only a couple of them might be named and then just need to pick the best one. But some decent options at FRF have me reviewing the whole plan. I suppose this weekend and TLT will change everything, and like you, I'll build the team from the cheapies upwards, but with a firm idea on who I want my guns and middies to be.

Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 8
I was never sold on Moses initially, even after I ran with him for most of last season. But as long as he keeps finding 372 kick metres as an average I think his base is just too high to do poorly.
In 2019 his game average was:
19 points in KM
6 points in RM
7 points in goals
5 points in TA
17 points in tackles
6 points in TBs
-10 in demerits
Has him sitting at about 50 points without doing anything too special
Matterson is a strong defender, I am hoping he cleans up that missed tackle count a little and he actually improves
We always talk about how easy draws don’t equate to fantasy scores, but the Eels really should* dominate the opening round and Moses was already looking sharp in the Nines**
*Eels love to blow an easy win though, they can be like the Tigers when they are favourites
**From what you can take from such a tournament anyway

Haha I have the same players ready for the same spot. Though Williams I think gets his own spot regardless. And now Tapine in the mix too! I would prefer Leilua the most I think, but I won’t be too shy to party if Carty makes me

365ish kms turned Milford into a gun 2018/2019. I don't think I'll pick him, but wouldn't be surprised if Keary did the same thing.

Was going to make a post about Keary the other day taking the piss
Always starts season on fire, loads say they were considering him....Few trade him in and reverts to 30s low 40s because he doesn't have the bulk KM game or the Munster TB ability to maintain his try scoring/high assist games

Hiku had off season surgery. Could mean he plays C as soon as he's fit. Named on extended bench because he is underdone

FWIW, I saw Garner at the game at Penrith on Saturday night. Looked like he had bulked up, as he was told too by Madge and training staff. I really like Garner so the bias is there, but in saying that, a whole off-season running off Brooks and building that chemistry they have with a bit of added size shouldn't hurt his scores and hence IMO the only way is up.

Is anyone considering not starting with Friend but running with 3 mid range hookers still in Levi, Koro and Brailey?

What's the difference in not starting with Cook/Smith or even Friend and running the mid rangers as mentioned

Not running Haas but running Carrigan/Knight maybe Merrin?

Re: NRL Fantasy 2020 Part 8
I just feel there is such good value in Api at hooker and I’m just throwing it out there to see what people’s thoughts are. Now King is injured I think that’s better for Brailey too and Levi should get really big minutes with Manly.Welshy wrote:

Tbh I thought the percentage ownership of Friend currently would be a bit higher, but it seems how injury prone he now is must be putting people off and also Verrills could probs be putting people off. I see value in Friend, but how much I’m not sure? Does he keep seeing 70-75mins? Does Robbo wanna manage him over the season to hope his body doesn’t break down by giving him 60mins and that’s it? Or does Verrills drop out an hour before kick off in lots of games? Hopefully we get an answer from a reliable source before the season starts. (I doubt we will though).
I just feel like Haas is must have but if you wanna really take a gamble I get why some won’t start with him.
Yes there is upside in Knight and possibly Merrin, but how much upside I’m not sure. Can they both average 49-50 which is 10 more points a game on average than what they’re priced as now, once again I’m unsure.

yes, although this Brailey will start off playing 50mins business makes me want to upgrade him. Apparently he wants to ease his way into an 80min hooker role so has me thinking he wont score well. At .6PPM he really needs to be playing more than 50 mins. If he on average scores 30 in 50 mins he goes up 12k after 3 weeks.... If they carried Tracey at 14 and dropped him after 2 weeks one would expect brailey would get a longer role so you could get him midweek.

I can manage with running with just 5 players cheaper than 250k but any less than that is gonna make it really hard.
You need to remember some of us aren’t at your elite level of top 20-70 yet where quite a number on here finished.
There are others like myself around the 600 rank mark last season who are very very good at this game but not elite elite elite like some of you guys are!
Must be nice haha

If you're going to start a cheapie though, why are people so afraid to start Luai? I mean I get the whole "Cleary will be dominant" thing, but he's still a starting half, will make some run metres and tackles, he will kick even if minimally compared to Cleary. And he's talented, bound to score a try or two. Heaps of people were starting Brown and Keighran last year. I just feel like HLF is one of the BEST positions to start a cheapie in. Am I wrong?
In order of positions I would be comfortable starting a cheapie
WFB>CTR>HLF>HOK>2RF>FRF
Cheapie backs play 80 minutes and most of them will score a try at some point to kick start price rises. They won't kill you if they score a 20 odd, even the true guns do that from time to time.
Rookie halves next to a non dominant kicker normally have a solid floor and a good ceiling. We have seen plenty of these over the years turn into keepers in their first season(Hodkinson, DCE, Reynolds, Hunt, SJ, Cleary). Below the backs on my pecking order because in this position a score in the 20s will kill your week
Rookie hookers generally have a hard time adjusting to first grade. Pace of the ruck, defensive patterns and controlling the attack makes it very difficult for a young hooker to move to keeper tier. They usual end up getting rotated or lose some minutes throughout the year. Most peak at a 40 odd average and need to be moved on. Solid floor while starting.
All the analysis says players starting on the edge get big minutes. Similar to hooker rookie edge players are likely to peak as mid rangers, however we have had exceptions (Crichton the most notable).
Rookie props normally bit crappy minutes off the bench and slow burn over 2-3 seasons before they are even playable in your fantasy team. As always there are a few exceptions (Haas)

I'm avoiding all Tigers forwards. With Garner, Leilua, Lawrence and MCK fighting it out for two spots + we know how Madge loves to shuffle his forward pack I don't think any of them get a decent enough run to make bulk cash

That’s a really good point. I see the bulldogs the same way, especially if they have a slow start to the season again, there will be lots of changes
