Not really a set date and it depends on how recovery goes. It was a 2 to 3 month timeframe, but I wouldnt expect him before the start of origin period ish. No way they push him to return earlier than he should, theyll be careful, although padder position may play a part.

Didn't see the Broncs trial but was Carty playing ok?

Lomax I'm a bit iffy on now too. It just depends how long Mary shows faith in him. If he plays 3 weeks and scores 35 that's fine but if he's still struggling irl and Mary punts him, it's a unnecessary trade that has to be made.

manage to listen to a couple of trial games for the first time on the radio. I have not missed Morrow (2GB) or maroon (M's). I had the choice of extreme waffle or a comedy show. One player who was mentioned a lot and the Panthers game was Martin. does he have any chance of a starting spot? Or more likely the bench?

Martin looked real good mate. Based off trial I think Panthers run out with JFH and Tamou at prop. Second row of Martin, Kikau edges and Yeo at lock. Bench of Capewell, Tetevano, Leota, Burton/May(when back)

I dunno if the stats hold up or whether theure even accurate (havent bothered to look), but he looked good imo. Was taking hit ups and looked quite dangerous on right edge with his offload. I think in previous years they had put him on the left? Seemed like right side would open up his attacking game a bit more.. could be wrong

You don't pick D. Fifita for base but for boom. When he doesn't get those big play points he'll score 35-45 points but all he needs is 2 big plays & he's on 50+. If teams can shut him down or starve him of any ball he can be controlled but there's only a couple of the top teams who can do that.

This has been asked but not answered.....how did K. Mann play

I watched the highlights & he didn't feature in any of them (probably need to watched the whole game to get a better gauge). If Walters goes well today I might start him at half & boot Mann.

I dont know how Mann played but apparently OBrien said post match that Tex Hoy has put himself in the frame for six and if he had a crystal ball hed have trained him there in pre season

He would have had the TA for Shibasaki's try but even then he threw the ball behind him and it was more a great catch by Shibasaki to hold onto it and score. Mann has the base stats but if anything the worry about him is he doesn't play 6 where his stats are way worse and Lino & Hoy looked good again as his competition for the spot

Major caveat is they were against Roosters' 3rd string team so you can't really make anything of the game anyway

Off his performance I would say Wiliame and Pereira have locked down back 5 spots. Where they play remains to be seen

Wiliame played well in last week's trials as well. He'll be in my team if named to start.

Let’s hope is something very minor.

Yeah it happened half way through the second half. I was watching Burns closely. One of the bunnies was headed for the try line and Burns ended up having to jump over him. He was favouring that leg for the next few minutes but seemed fine again after that. I'd guess he just jarred his ankle. The commentators didn't notice it.

Watching some trial highlights(so grain of salt etc)

Broncos look like they were struggling in the ruck defensively. Notably on all the tries the Titans scored it seemed like the A, B and C defenders all had hips facing the sidelines, which is a sign of lazy defense. When in this defensive position it's incredibly hard to have good line speed, lateral movement or tackle with your preferred shoulder. Leaves the defense reactive rather than attacking

For Titans having Carty on the right with Proctor on the left seems to be working wonders in attack. Watkins looking to have pace and confidence. Tyrone Roberts looked terrible on the left edge

Melbourne clinical as always. Lots of tries off kicks as Cowboys looked flat in the first half. Of note Holmes looked super quick and seemed to find the edge with ease on backs plays

Not a lot of footage of Dogs/Raiders game. Horsburgh let in a try with a poor defensive effort on the line. Tapine set up a try with some great late footwork and an offload

For Knights Brailey looked class. People under estimate the impact of a good quality 9 for both attack and defense. Knights will be thereabouts fighting for an 8 spot this year. Shibasaki scored a nice try on a pass that wasn't meant for him. Lino threw a terrible hospital pass to Hoy that ended in a try to Hunt due to poor defense. Against an active defensive line Hoy probably doesn't play the rest of the game. Mann didn't feature in the highlights, but based on how Lino played I would say the 6 spot is wrapped up. Hoy had some nice footwork to split the defense and race away to score. Still think his best position in centre, but he absolutely will play first grade this year

Luai still an emergency for me if he plays 6, unless a lot of cheap starters come from the clouds.

Probably the only thing that has changed for me is I have some confidence in running a cheaper (low 300s) CT like Watkins or Shibs.

Righto Lads, my last dilemma before TLT. J Williams Carty Party, Hess, Lucy, Horsey

    Pick 3...

At the moment I'm Williams, Carty Hess. Have Knight & Haas as FRF and Carrigan & DFifi already locked in

I guess we will know more about Lucy defense this afternoon when the Mighty Warriors destroy Wests

I'd go those 3 aswell. What's the rest of your team looking like? That's a great bunch to have locked in and similar to mine, I'm just curious to see the rest of that team to see where you chose some of the cheaper options.
