My current draft has both Cartwright and Aubo in it...what do they call the definition of insanity again?

Doesn’t look like it. I thought he’d be goal kicking in Meaney’s absence, but that’s possibly gone to Averillo.
will Averillo play round 1? Would be nice to have a 228k centre kicking goals if so

Averillo is covering for injuries to Meaney, Montoya & C. Crichton & according to nrl.com both Meaney & Montoya are due back round 1.

Looks a nice team mate. Only problem for me is the idea of going a top heavy team when there is so much value in that position with guys like Lucy, Williams, Hess, Carty etc. Obviously everyone should probs have Haas and Fifi but around those guys there is plenty of value. Just my opinion anyway

You make a good point but i also figure Lolo will probably be the 2nd best scorer in the comp so id like to get him from the start. I actually feel Matterson may even explode and increase his average slightly - i like him as a POD. Fifita and J.Williams are obviously both value. Im definitely thinking of trading Lolo or Matterson down to Lucy but i dont really rate other picks like Carty/Hess/Su'A etc as being great value. They'll all increase their averages but im not really confident starting any. Lucy, however; will make my team if i feel the need to restructure. Cheers for your feedback

Guns + cows supplemented with a couple of mid rangers with the potential to be keepers/borderline keepers will always be superior to picking mid rangers for midrangers sake, give me Taumalolo + a cow + a trade in the bank over Cartwright and Hess every day of the week

I am free all day Sunday and probably from like 9 oclock QLD time onwards tonight haha but I mean I am happy to try and work it out. Maybe ill set up my draft order for the first 20-30 picks and hopefully I will catch the back end of the draft.
Moved it to 10pm tonight. Hope everyone else wouldn't mind.
Still a few spots left. Just a reminder of a draft league running tonight. League pin is W79T7X26.

I'm pretty tempted, but there are plenty of 2rf options. He probably averages 40 without much trouble. Could go mid to high 40's if he finds form. Back on his preferred side of the field for the first time in a few years, suits his offload.
For all the piss taking I do about the party his average when getting big minutes in 2RF is pretty hard to ignore. He definitely did a job for me last year and it was only the failed experiment at HLF (in fantasy parlance), penchant for a missed tackle plus the kooky aspects of his belief system that casts a long shadow.
I sometimes think that people assume you have to be wedded to the overall idea of a player to bring them into your team when really you should be looking at the role you need that player to fill and whether you think they can do it regardless of their history, personality, your personal prejudices etc.
If he played 80 in 2RF for the first 6-8 rounds of the season there is no doubt he will make decent money.

E.G. Mann and Lomax. I don't think anyone is expecting either of these dudes to be a long term prospect but if they fit in your team, free up a bit of cash to improve your team elsewhere, hopefully make a bit of cash & then make way for someone else they need to be considered. They don't need to be out of the running because they had a shit game in the trials.
On the other hand if you find a base/cheaper pricer you think can do the same job then they should be tossed aside

My 2c on player loans:
For years fans have complained about clubs with strong development systems doing all the work for other clubs to come and 'poach' them (looking at you Roosters). Loans would allow for clubs who invest in player development to be able to strategically transition their roster. A lot of times a young player has a few good performances (eg broncos/storm fringe players during origin) and then leaves on the promise of a first grade spot elsewhere. And that's fair enough, but it would be better IMO if the player could fill a gap on loan for a year and still be part of their original club's long term plan.

On the DL still but Pearce has a partial pec tear they think. Saw a specialist last night but not sure what’s happening atm. Would be a huge spanner if he missed the start of the season. Bloody knights can’t catch a break

Loans totally make sense for player development. As a massive football (controversial ) fan I am totally used to it.
The salary cap adds a layer of complication but teams should be able to work within it. In football it sometimes gets murky where loans are made to strategically impede rivals (that seems to have died down in the last few years) but given the finals systems NRL has I don't think thats an issue.

Might need to have a think if you want both Curran and Taunoa-Brown IIRC at least 1 if not both are covering for injuries. If a Base price WFB with better JS comes along i'd go with them over Averillo via Shibst43597 wrote:Friend

The difference is they go back to the club, in this case Grant does and momo unsure because his contract ends. Couldn’t agree more with you on signing for another club while still playing for one, it’s dumb as well. This just adds another level of dumb. Just an example of how this differs..... Grant plays this year for the Tigers and C Smith announces he retires in June, Storm offer him a upgraded contract and a guaranteed starting spot if he misses a few extra tackles while versing the Tigers in the finals. Has anyone even stipulated the rules of negotiation around player trades? You can’t approach a contracted player until their last year but technically he belongs to the Storm next year but plays with the Tigers this year. So many layers of bs when basically my original point stands that they didn’t recruit that well this season and they should just deal with it like the other clubs have to.
Stupidest arguement i have seen yet.
How is that any different then Team A going up to a player in Team B and offering them 50k to miss a few extra tackles, no contracts needed.
