You got me thinking, could start with Luai over Walters (not that, that fills me with confidence) but would have to move Luai out of 17th man and play Musgrove or JTB.RandomSil wrote:
No, you get a slight price raise, Walters might still end up on the bench and we don't know if Grant will start right away or not. I can see a reason for not picking Walters at all though because of the trade and you can downgrade a different dud for Grant.
If the swap deal doesn’t go through though then you’re already losing cash on what Walters is making by say round 3 which would be a bummer!

Totally agree and could be hilarious, everyone jumps on Walters for 1 round and miss Grant, then waste a trade the following week. The Pascoe Fiasco wrote:I guess then that if neither Grant or Momirovski are in the 21 tomorrow then the deal is definitely going to happen! Walters could always be moved to 21 and could be used as a loop or just keep him there waiting for the inevitable injury to Benji!

That’s a good point. I’m basing it off 3 rounds.
What are others doing?
I have Walters pencilled in but if I can see a Cashcow with better long term prospect and relatively decent upside I will probably take them over him. It is a negative to pencil in a trade from the outset, but better than starting with Grant and hoping he jags the starting spot right away.

I personally think Walters is a better option than Luai.RandomSil wrote:

Plenty of good cows dont make money from the get go anyway.. think Sivo and Garrick last year, both had extremely slow starts.
Ravalawa had 38 in round 1 with 10tbs and then did fuck all.
Those guys have different roles, on the wing (to Grant), but yeah, its not all about round 1 for cash cows.

If the trade goes through after round 1 as is being rumoured (100% grain of salt) then Walters wont have made much
If Grant gets decent bench minutes in BSmith's absence, its possible that Walters to Grant won't make you much money. Does that make it a wasted trade?
I don't want to have Grant in my team based off an internet hunch though, last thing you want is a couple of week's of small scores from Grant before he goes back to QCup

For potentially one or two games? I mean, Luai ain't great and we all know Cleary will do his thing but I think Luai will at least play 6-8 rounds, even if it is off the back of Nathan

Which is why Grant at this stage is too much of a risk. If the trade is made by Friday it is potentially worth swapping them around.

I expect the deal to happen, TLT to reveal when based on these scenarios:Rabbits21 wrote:

1. Grant wrapped in cotton wool - not named in the 17 this week = swap is happening after round 1
2. Grant named on the bench = deal happens after Smith is available

B smith has developed into that lock type role over the past couple years. Highly doubt Grant walks into that. Reckon he gets next to no mins if any at all, CS9 will play 80. Storm will have 3 big men and maybe Earl on the bench

I can still see Burns out scoring Roberts if he stays fit as Souths right edge doesn’t see much ball.rhinoceroo wrote:
Hahahaha Aubs set and forget.
Also, I know this is the Braidon Burns fan club here, but I bet he's not even one of the top two scoring centres at Souths this year, let alone in the competition.
Much more often the ball goes to the left, you know that!
Outside Murray, Cody and Latrell chiming in Burns could have a field day.
He averaged 44 in those 7 games he played 80mins in last season and I think with just one try.
If Burns stays fit you’d think he’s gonna score more tries and definitely have more try assists!
Can he stay fit though...........
Geez I’m tempted even though he burnt me last season.
So if I pick a good centre to start with it’s either Black Widow or Mr Fragile.............

Do you think he goes back to QCup tho? I don't. Even when BS9/14 returns. Sneaking suspicion CS9 goes to 7, Grant and Brandon split HKR duties with Brandin also taking minutes from Finucane. To be honest, this is a reach as no way Bellyache plays two utilities on his bench surely... Unless he sees Brandon as more a second rower than hooker

I think Brandon Wakeham is worth a look
2 scores as starter are 40 and 39. There were a lot of attacking stats there, and several missed tackles, but he should be able to beat his BE. By how much is the question

Then I’d just go Walters to Grant.Mearcats wrote:

I bet if I start with Luai he goes shit first 2-3 rounds, but if I don’t start with him he probs scores 45-50 with a moment of brilliance and a try plus tackle busts.

Ah, someone else see's what I see... Albeit with Smith staying at 9 which I'm kinda wondering about.

With his missed tackle rate he’d be starting on about -12 which is the issue.Milchcow wrote:I think Brandon Wakeham is worth a look

I think Mann is the better option.
Once again though I’m warming to JMK. I think he can be a consistent scorer and average mid 40’s.
Going with JMK as second half means I could get Aubbo/Burns at centre over Shiba.
Croft is another option but between his 50’s there is likely to be scores of 30 and I don’t think I can handle that!

Look longer bro. Let's say Walter scores 35 x 2-3 games. That's 70 -105 total. Now let's say Luai does go shit scoring 20+/-. 6-8 games nets him 120 to 160. Plus, you haven't burnt the trade.
To be honest, the jury is still out on whether I bring Grant in as well but if both he and Momo aren't named tomorrow then I'll very likely whack him in 21.
The big unknown is whether the swap deal falls arse over tit again and I (along with MattNZ) get stuck with an 8 minute bemchie for 4 weeks before I admit that I'm a lifer failure and offload him!

What would be hilarious is everyone missing Walters price rises until BSmith back, plus his extra rises when Benji's hamstrings twang, because they overthought and started with an NPR who everybody is going to pick up anyway at the right time for a failing starter.

Rank these guys from first to last, bonus points for reasoning.
Croft, Flanagan, JMK, Mann, and Wakeham.
