I see Watson getting 50-60 minutes across Lock initially, then switches to Hooker to finish the game.Rabbits21 wrote:
I’m very tempted by Ese’Ese but obviously we have no idea how O’Brien plans to manage his forward rotation!
Herman is a ppm best though so 50mins would be enough for him to average 45-46.
Do you reckon he gets those 50mins?
What will Watson’ role be off the bench?

He's definitely not a starting lock, but could be third half-type lock during games. It would be better for us if he's just used as impact hooker, but don't think that's the plan.

I'm taking the punt on Ese'ese, have always rated him and has served me well in the past. Plus in the 4-5 weeks for Sione to come back who's to say that someone else underperforms and ends up getting the relegation?rhinoceroo wrote:Knight vs Ese'ese
Herman has more upside as a fantasy player. Busts more tackles, pops more offloads. Knight has more job/minute security, but I see him as being a Tolman who'll plod away and score 45-50s (which is fine for his starting price) without ever threatening to boom.
If I was O'Brien, Watson would be coming on at around 30 as roaming lock, then Herman back on for Brailey at around 60 with Watson going hooker. That would give Herman decent minutes, but I'm not the coach.

Williams, Carty, Sua and Stimson
In the last 2 years Stimson gas started at 2nd row 12 times, He has averaged 43, and has zero scores less than his round 1 BE of 26.
His career 2nd row average is 41 (quote a few scores in the 20s if you include 2017 scores, but its still a good average)
Length of CHN's ban is of concern, and also apparently he has struggled at training and was going to miss the 17. But if he can string a few starts togther he is a clear number 1.
Carty and Su'A are both similar, about 10 points under priced if they play to previous years stats and keep their role.
Jack Williams is hard to judge. Don't have a lot to go on for past stats, so its really a bit of gut feel about how he goes this year.
I think its within bounds of possibility he only averages around 40, in which case he is 4th of them all. My expectations (and a lot of others) are that he does a bit better than that, but I'm not sure how much better

I'm loving seeing some miniscure signs of innovation finally in rugby league - the smaller more mobile bench.
Fitter forwards playing bigger mins, allowing more mobile game-breaking bench players to come on and inject spark (example Craig Wing in Origin for NSW back in the day).
The game is also evolving into smaller, faster, more mobile ball playing locks.
Connor Watson could be immense at 13 and allow another attacking dimension around the ruck.
Another innovation i really enjoyed was watching the double fullback attack NSW threw at QLD last year or the 'roaming winger' - Tommy Turbo roaming around the ruck/Cook alongside Tedesco. Cut QLD to ribbons.
Innovation like this is long overdue in rugby league. This is the future.

Jack Williams has been groomed for Gallen’s Lock spot for 2 years. He’s the incumbent and there’s nothing to say otherwise. He will be gold this year. Forget about past ppm’s, minutes played, etc.etc.
That’s his job. He won’t play 80, but 50+ guaranteed.

He’s not a lock, full stop. Locks hit it up once or twice a set. He doesn’t. He tackles in the middle. That’s the only comparison to a lock.

Feel I've heard another poster say the exact same thing. Can't put my finger on it though.

How many points is he gonna score? I've no doubt he's the Sharks new starting lock, and I like starting locks, how do you think he'll score?

Which combo do you guys rate more?
A: Ponga + Walters (EMG) + Hampton (EMG) - Wiliame and JTB in the 17
B: Hughes + Su'A + Hampton (EMG) - Wiliame in the 17
C: Drinkwater + Carty Party + Lomax (with Wiliame moving to EMG)

Disagree. Knight looks like he’s been encouraged to offload. Big runs and big points incoming. Herman has the potential but it all depends on how the knights play him.

Im skipping lomax, think dragons will spend 30% of each game attacking. They are in for a horror year.
Think Ponga will be in for a monster year. So I'm going A.

Hardly a fair comparison, A has 5 players, B & C has 4 but TBh I don't really like any of them. Maybe B?Bethany_B wrote:Which combo do you guys rate more?
