i'd bet the NRL want to do everything they can to just get one full round in, so that when they restart the season they don't need to try and fit in the remaining round 1 games to even things up.

I'm just making assumptions at the moment with the way everything else is going.

hope you are wrong, the footy is such a great distraction from the madness going on atm.

It wont get suspended until a player is struck down.

If a player gets it the entire team would need to go in to self isolation and they wouldnt be able to field a team, it will keep kicking on until someone is diagnosed with it, however long that is.

I don't know how people playing a sport should be cancelled over theme parks / gyms / coles and shopping centres are still up and running. More people attend them daily

I am also reading the AFL is likely to go ahead next week but there is talk of delaying the start of the season, what do these clowns think is going to happen.

Delay the season a month and that will solve all the problems ? Its going to get much worse before it gets better and if they postpone it they may as well just call it all off.

The elephant in the room is that if our hospitals were better equipped to deal with this all it wouldnt be as big of an issue because Its not mass people dieing that is the issue its more people dieing then they should because adequate care wont be available should the number of cases blow out.

I guess, as others stated, the events will go ahead with no crowds until a player contracts the virus?

No crowds means less chance a player gets sick.. but pretty unlikely a player is going to get sick from someone in the crowd anyway? obviously they shouldn't be mixing with general public or signing autographs/etc. i dunno.

Because the spreading potential of 30,000 people together in one venue is exponentially worse than a workplace or a school.
