UK government taking a very different strategy to everyone else (kind of like mattnz) which is pretty much to allow enough people to get it before self-isolating as everyone is going to get it at some point and that's a way to minimise the duration of disruption. Depends which way Canberra moves as to when the NRL is suspended, absent a player infection, which you have to think is coming anyway.

I think Round 2 will go ahead but likely with no crowds.

I don’t think it’s an overreaction at all, what I do find weird is some events are going ahead and some cancelled, surely to minimise should be same for all.

And this isn't a good way to do things. The reason everyone else is trying to slow the spread of the virus is so that you don't have tens of thousands of people needing hospital treatment all at once. NHS won't be able to cope if it spreads too quickly and then thousands of people will needlessly die because they won't be able to get the treatment they need.

My first world problem is if I have to self-isolate I have four kids under 7 that will be self-isolated with me I guess and honestly it seems like the mental illness that results from that experiment will take a much greater toll than the actual virus.

It sounds like a state mandated chicken pox party, like when nutty anti-vax parents have their kids stay over an infected kids house. I saw it on South Park once.

Sometimes I think it is a overreaction, but then I think about if my elderly parents got the virus and died from it (as they probably would) then I would be pretty pissed off if it could have been avoided by missing a few weekends of sport.

I'm not saying it's a good solition. UK is currently being run by pseudo-scientific psychopaths working on their student union version of the trolley problem.

Because the spreading potential of 30,000 people together in one venue is exponentially worse than a workplace or a school.
I also mentioned shopping centres and themeparks.
They don't get any types of numbers through or foreign visitors? In my opinion shopping centres are worse than a sports event. You get all demographics going to them. Not just a demographic who likes sport.

I had to laugh when they had a closed stadium game for one of the Champions League matches and both sets of crowds just partied outside the stadium and watched on big screen tvs!! Looked like a rave

My mother in law is massively at risk if she gets it. My father probably wouldn't fair too well either.
The annoying thing is going to be that if a bunch of stuff gets cancelled, and then things aren't too bad, lots of people will say "See - we overrracted" rather than think "It was because of the reaction that things didn't get too bad"
Happened with Y2K. The reason it wasn't a problem was because people put a lot of effort into making sure it wasn't a problem, and now everyone thinks it was a hoax. It didn't help that some idiots thought that toasters would stop working and planes would fall out of the sky (the equivalent of people buying 2 years supply of toilet paper all at once)
But there were a lot of serious problems that only got fixed because people put effort in.
i think by the end of the month, Australia is more likely than not to have restrictions similar to Italy. No mass gatherings of people, cut out non-essential travel.
