NRL talking to ESPN about showing games on ESPN. Would be a great money grab worldwide for everyone trying to get their sports fix. Would be good for the game if the NRL can somehow keep the season alive.

The NRL and a lot of clubs aren't profitable and I suspect a lot of them rely on cash flows from games to keep them above water. Any advertising and sponsorship money won't come in either. Within a few weeks you'll see clubs defaulting or exceeding working capital facilities. The one positive (financially) is they won't be paying for transport or match payments.

This isn't a "storm" event. This will be a factor well into next year, socially and economically.

All true but given the potential impacts this will have on basically every sector of the economy and how vulnerable people are going to be as a result it sounds tone-deaf to talk about the catastrophe for RL.

Seems a bit stink but tbh, this could be a great opportunity for League to increase its market share... Kinda like what happened with League in Aus during WW2.

Not the context I was referring to. Was pointing out the comments of V'landys weren't overblown with regards to the impact of the NRL - this is going to have huge ramifications well into next year (I was saying that from a global perspective)

So I am starting up a Coronavirus Fantasy League to fill the gap for when NRL is suspended.

Prices will filter in soon, but basically Italy and China will be the highest priced countries and looking like solid captaincy options. Spain, USA and Iran all looking like consistent scorers and great selections in the forwards, whereas the African countries and India should be fairly well priced as cashcow backline options. The wildcard will be North Korea, as nobody knows what the fuck is going on there.

    Who is keen to play?

With Friend, 65 minutes was within my expected minutes for him (although obviously I would have liked more)

Panthers were starting to get on top when he was subbed, but Verrills didn't do much to help that, so who knows what sort of plan they'll go with this week.

I thought the roosters looked much worse when friend came off. Wonder if they will stick with that strategy again this week.

I also think the Roosters looked noticeably weaker. Their attack really seemed to lack structure and organisation.

They might miss general Cronk screaming and barking orders at the team while standing injured in the line. Hard when you don't have the coach on the field with you!

Yeah I get it but talking about it being a catastrophe for RL (and him begging for govt support at this time) was tone deaf given the broader circumstances of it being a catastrophe for everything, including many more important things.

I mean he’s a racing guy so he’s used to the NSW govt doing what he wants because gambling taxes are major revenue for them, but the NRL has to be careful they don’t look like cowboys putting profit ahead of safety.

The World Health Organisation has declared that dogs cannot transmit Coronavirus, and there is no reason to quarantine dogs anymore.

Greenberg and Annessley pretty much saying season is continuing as normal behind closed doors. They are "considering" every option put forward by players, coaches and staff. Also say that if NZ decide to go home after this weekend it is possible for them to continue the competition without them.

Pretty much one day and one step at a time.

Tariq Sims is set to miss at least 1 game. He is been placed on charge and with carryover a loss at the judiciary will result in a 1 game suspension.
