Most supermarkets in NZ have plenty of stock it’s just hard to get it all through the supply chain and get it into the supermarkets. As soon as it arrives it gets obliterated

There's been a couple of missed deliveries at my local supermarket, so people are more worried about there being nothing in stock even though they're not closing.
Is there an official list of what's considered an essential service? My mate's worried about his bakery being locked down. I just assumed it would be considered essential, but some list I saw didn't specifically mention it.
At the moment Bottleshops are considered essential, so the Bakery is fine.
Fresh food and pharmacies will some of the last things to go, so he should be safe for now
The mixed messages are shocking at the moment. I didn't watch it but apparently 60 minutes had a story last night on how we should all 'lighten up' over coronoavirus and its all just a massive beatup.
If you saw that as your main point of news why wouldn't you keep going to the beach/pub/shops

QLD just announced they are "closing borders". Dont really even know how that is enforced.. but if they dont move the NRL to gladstone real quick then it will be season off

same here - plenty of footage of stocked warehouses, we just don't have the capacity to restock every supermarket in the country as quickly as people can buy it.
Even in Wuhan and Italy, people can still get food. It will become a pain (enforced customer limits and queuing, reduced range) food should remain available.
We have enough of the basics to last a while, just would prefer to be able to head out every so often to stock up on fresh food and perishables

Better to go full force and snuff it out. Get to 0 new cases for 2 weeks, then re-open

I think we will be in lockdown by Wednesday. Cabinet having another meeting tomorrow night, if Australia's cases keep following the trend of Italy it is just a matter of time.

What are they going to do on the Gold Coast? Is there even a border to close?
Will it just be plane travel and airports?

Wuhan has had 0 new cases (as of yesterday) for 3 days straight. They have now relaxed social distancing rules.

Don't know if it's been reported by Ponga will miss a week with an earlier guilty plea for a shoulder charge or face two weeks if he challenges and loses. Yet the forearm to the back of his head goes unpunished.

NZ Govt released a list. Hospitals, Medical Centres, Pharmacies, Service Stations, Banks, Supermarkets on there. Schools will close but services to support health workers will be available. Public transport too. Can't remember the rest

Thanks Milch, I was thinking along the same lines, especially the bottle shop example. Then I thought about the health risks for people with alcohol dependency may be one reason why they're keeping those open (plus the potential uproar from non-dependants).
Some sort of essential services, perhaps with tiers, seems like something that could've already been laid out..
I also have a family member who's a teacher and it's a mess. About half the kids are showing up and a lot of parents keeping them at home are asking for the work, but a lot that aren't either. Mind you the education boss of that area forced the teachers to work at other schools while the fires were raging around them all through December.

Yeah, I'm not sure how it can be enforced, you can't really block off the roads there.
Perhaps the idea is to get the point across to people who aren't paying attention?

more on essential services
https://www.pm.gov.au/media/update-coronavirus-measures-220320
The following are considered non-essential
Pubs, registered and licenced clubs (excluding bottle shops attached to these venues), hotels (excluding accommodation)
Gyms and indoor sporting venues
Cinemas, entertainment venues, casinos, and night clubs
Restaurants and cafes will be restricted to takeaway and/or home delivery
Religious gatherings, places of worship or funerals (in enclosed spaces and other than very small groups and where the 1 person per 4 square metre rule applies).
Everything else, at this point I guess is allowed open.
Shopping centres are still open, I guess the next step will be a partial shutdown there. keep open Coles/Woolworths/chemists close off a bunch of other stuff

Thanks again Milch, my google search just kept giving me media headlines. The list I saw was similar to what Rapture mentioned, but was posted on facebook, so this link is a better guideline.
He's shut down the dining area and thinking about doing deliveries, so it seems like that should be fine.

Mrs Cow is a teacher. At the moment she is expected to teach both the students that show up, and give online learning to those that don't. Its not feasible and won't last long. Its effecting me too, I am OK to work from home, but can't do it easily if Mrs Cow is at work and kids are at home with me - and there will be plenty of others in similar situations.
The shitty announcement today of "schools are open ... but don't go ... unless you want to" will not help things. Schools themselves will have little idea of how many kids are going to turn up tomorrow. How they can be expected to plan staffing/workload levels when they don't even know how many kids to expect.
Scott Morrison said yesterday schools will remain open. If you watched that, and didn't see/read Gladys this morning suggesting not to go to school, you could be forgiven for thinking official govt policy was school attendance is expected.
And no doubt advice will change again by the end of the week.
Given we have the evidence of what is happened in China/Italy I don't know why we just didn't go hard from the start, and instead just allowed it to get worse while we delayed the inevitable

if you think any level of shutdown is going to "snuff it out", you're wrong.
This virus is with us until we have a vaccine (and the majority of the population in innoculated).
There is good evidence to say that a total lockdown (that actually has an end date - which everyone expects) is actually setting us up for a worse outcome than even the do nothing approach. Schools should stay open, and the social distancing measures already in place should remain for at least 2-3months.

If I do keep him, I can do Knight -> Turbo and Walters -> Grant, and keep Croft on my bench for any games he misses.
If you've got bigger problems it makes sense to hold Croft as he won't lose money this week (maybe even do some l**ping as Broncs are last game). But I'd think he's a sell the week he returns because he's just going to drop more $$$ and isn't a season keeper (or even a keeper to R12).

That seems very unworkable.
I get how Tas, NT, WA can do it. SA was a bit of a stretch. But for NSW/Qld, and NSW/Vic, and NSW/ACT, there's just too much travel between.
