If you think he's going to keep racking up the TAs lol!

Would you still be interested if he didn't get the TAs and his scores were 44 and 46

The thread was moving just as fast as the game last night.

    Few thoughts:
    - Refs seem more likely to call 6 again than they would have been to call a penalty before the change. We definitely got an extra 3-4 restarts for minor things that wouldn't have been called
    - This will indirectly lead to less kick metres as we get more piggy backs down the field
    - Fit, mobile forwards are going to dominate. Haas is obviously going to be one of the better middle forwards, although I don't think he plays 80 again next week
    - Staggs/Flegler/Hopoate have shown once again why you don't chase last weeks points. Popular trade ins that won't make the cash or score the points most wanted.
    - Mitch Moses floor is so incredibly high. You can almost bank 300 kick metres, 3+ goals, few tackles and run metres. Gone are the days where he could go you a 20 odd in a stinker

Very excited to see what Cook can dish up, although Bankwest is a different beast. Night games tend to be very dewy so I expect a lot more dropped ball

Any idea on how these new rules could affect hookers?

Holding Levi for one more week to see if there’s a change.

If last nights game is anything to go by, there will definitely be higher tackle counts in the middle.
Turpin (64 tackles), Carrigan (51), Haas (49), even Hopoate (44) - although this was partly due to a heavy possession dominance for the Eels.
Even so Mahoney (38 tackles) - I think seeing hookers hit 50 tackles could become quite regular.

I didn't really see much attacking exploitation with the 6 again yet, but will be interesting when fast tackle-breaking players (e.g. Cook, Koroisau, Tedesco, Papenhuyzen) get the 6 again calls. It could be interesting for both Hookers and lurking Fullbacks

I like that the halves who like to run are going to get opportunity.  Milford excluded.

Yes I am interested to see how Brooks goes first game back, he ran for 118m/game last season. Once we get a full round in no doubt our 4 trades next week will be to capitalize on these opportunities if they keep presenting

Maybe Kearney is a genius and Nikorima's running game is going to come to the fore now.

    Probably not though.

Matterson dropping a few points after the initial update sucked but I'll take 58 points from a trade in. Hoping he can average 55 a game for the year.

Wouldn't be unhappy if I were you, I was clenching the whole second half after he finished on 35 in the first

Very happy with scores so far of Haas, Carrigan and Moses.

    Couple of thoughts:

Turpin - score looks great but Broncos are not going to be defending that much. His stats were all tackles. In saying that, 80min hooker who should score 45+ every week looks great. Tempting to trade Friend out for him but it would be a luxury trade

Staggs - briefly flirted with the idea of bringing him in. Glad I didn't.

NRLPHYSIO - don't know if anyone saw his post about the possibility of late changes in teams due to temperature checks and players not being allowed to play - Always a good reminder to keep an eye out for late changes when you can

    Loving the start so far. Here are my points;

    - The speed of the game is perfect. I think it will bring so many more supporters back to the game. I am hearing a lot of older supporters saying it's like being in the pub watching the game back in the 80's. LOVE IT!
    - Did not notice the ref. He had a couple stuff ups last night but overall it was amazing.
    - The new rule will do wonders for the game; however, I can't help but feel bad for the big boppers... think your Tolmans, S.Boyd, Turgess, Napa.
    - Footy is back. If these rules stick expect a lot of teams to start going smaller, quicker forwards, like in the 80's.
    - After last nights game I will be knocking down walls to get Turbo/Ponga/Teddy/DCE/Cook into my team ASAP!

    My team starting of nicely.
    Haas 85
    Carrigan 57
    Matterson 59
    Moses 48

Hopefully captain Lolo can run rings around the Titans pack on a nice dry track in TSV tonight.
I think these high scores might be the new norm?

Attacking wise, I think it will be better for edge runners. Quick play the balls will generally see teams compress defense towards the middle. Should be lots of holes outside of weak defensive halves

You have to remember he wont be making 64 tackles every week. He will get the chance for his turn to Cook it

Agree i think we'll see a lot of tries scored either side of the posts.

I dont mind the new rules but it all seemed pretty loose with only 1 ref. The 10m defensive line was pretty non existent, and the ruck was a bit messy.

Once teams start to exploit the situation i think we'll see some complaining.

Personally Ill probably get a better guage tonight when its not my team playing

Drinkwater and Clifford are not exactly noted defenders so I'm going to have a dabble on Titans back rowers for ATS

Few times there was a quick turnover, the ref had to run 20m from one defensive line to the other and the defence was only getting back 7m at some points.

I think the big heads will be forced to allow 2 refs sooner rather than later

Assuming Levis fitness is up to scratch I think his biggest problem may be Hasler and what instructions he is under.

Sounds like he has had an attitude adjustment since joining the Eagles and might not ball hog like he has done in the past.

Im giving him a week, but im pretty worried about him. I think he'll just focus on good service and it will be dce/turbo who are sniffing around the ruck. Hopefully he might get an LBA or two.

Cook BE of 83. Could hopefully lose another 40K+ over the next 3 weeks.
Tedesco BE of 74. Hopefully he can lose some cash as well.

Couple players who should bottom out in the next 2-4 weeks. Should be some good pickings with the likes of your Braileys/Lomax's/Manns to make way.

I thought the same with Haas last night. Guns are going to put up big scores, it's just what they do
