FaringdonSwirl wrote:Have had a go at this long term planning thing. Tear it apart if it doesn't make sense and I will have another crack. This is based on bringing in RTS and Havili this week. Still not sold on Havili but whoever I trade in will likely end up at 17/18 alongside Crichton so needs to be a reasonable scorer. Too low on trades to be bringing in cows right? (I have 11 after trades this week.)

    Keepers:
    Grant
    Haas, D Saifiti
    Jurbo, X, X
    Cleary, Pearce
    Ramien, Niu
    Ponga, Pappy, RTS

    JFH, Robson, X, Havili
    S Crichton, X, X, X

    Upgrading:
    Lucy, Young, Brailey

    Cashouts:
Sironen, Paix, HTF (though may hold him as he doesn't provide much cash)

So Lucy and Young become 2 keeper 2RFs. Plan was Tevaga next and DFifi the week after, but will see if the timeline matches up. Current prices put that as a 386k upgrade, but I'd say it would be closer to 300k.

I think Brailey needs to become a half. Will see who is around in 3 weeks. Can hopefully get a gun half to drop Pearce to the bench for ~100k.

Current bank of 200k, plus cashing out Sironen/Paix should cover those trades, and allow me to save a trade cashing out HTF. If all that goes to plan I would've used 5 trades, bringing me down to 6 to cover the final 6-7 rounds.

I think you're analysing the situation quite well.

I'd also keep an eye on Crichton's price movements for a possible cash out. He won't be getting 70's every week, and centres are just a dart board throw, so if his price got above 500k and a cheap centre comes along it could be worth liberating the cash, rather than as you say cashing HTF which won't liberate much.

How is everyone going on the trade front?

So much inconsistency in the centres and injuries on key players has me down to 8.

Latrell Bitchell is no good. Breadman not the Best looks like he would fit in at the warriors with his recent involvement.

I have a feeling Ponga and RTS are also going to be super inconsistent, the long stint overseas for RTS has to take a toll at some point and Ponga is a walking target. Not to mention RTS is essentially a one man band.

Is it safe to have best in the starting side this week? His hot effort last week of 6 coupled with Friends early shower makes me wonder what the hell I'm doing wrong.

I don't really care for selling Kapow and Young. As someone else suggested you could get RTS instead and move Lomax to centre.

I think my plan will involve something like that.

Have Crichton, Talau and Niu so it would be ideal for Crichton to be moved on for a base price CTR/WFB ideally.

In the last 2 weeks I've moved from having Crichton as WFB/CTR coverage, to having Herbie as WFB/CTR coverage due to Crichton's price exploding. Another good score this week will see him over 500k

You're not really doing anything wrong with Best, as others have said, centres are a dart throw.

Crichton scored 74 on the weekend after a string of average scores, it will probably be Best who has that big score this weekend. Both play in good sides, although Knights just aren't quite putting it together at the moment in attack.

Obviously selling Best if he allows you to upgrade elsewhere is a fine plan. If you aren't keeping him for the season then now is the time to get rid of him.

wondering what the brains trust thinks of the following. rank#40 and 9 trades left..

    DCE - Hunt
    Katoa - Fotu/Tko (anyone under 721k)

    would leave a team of

    Mcinnes
    Fotu Haas
    Matto Tapine Angus
    Hunt Cleary
    Lomax Talau
    Paps Crichton Teddy

    ROBSON, API, GRANT, CARRIGAN
    Niu, Fermour, HTF, Paix

at the moment im playing a back as my 4th reserve and katoa has a big BE (but a great draw and POD).. wondering whether the trades are worth it with so few left

Basically DCE + Katoa v Hunt + Fotu (-2 trades) long term. TIA!

I'm sorry mate but those are terrible trades. DCE is a keeper, probably top 2 in his position. Hunt would be nice but you don't need him with DCE and Cleary. Certainly you could use a gun FRF, but it's not urgent, I'm also currently running Haas and Carrigan. I'd keep an eye on Thompson and Kapow this week as a possibility, or a cheap one like Hetherington for your nprs. And Katoa is possibly back this week.

MORE BRONCOS drama. Tesi Niu left training early and didn’t do scheduled media. Not sure what’s wrong.

Hopefully he just had to do a poo

Going Mitchell & JTB -> Tauk & Havili this week

    Keepers:
    Grant
    Haas, Tauk
    Jurbo, Yeo, X
    Cleary, DCE
    S.Mat, Niu/Talau
    Lomax, Pappy, Teddy

    Koro, Macca, Carrigan, Havili
    Talau/Niu, X, X, Williame

    Upgrading:
    Young

    Cashouts:
    Luai, HTF

8 trades left, so hopefully in 2 weeks go Luai & Young to either Fifita/ Tevaga and a basement rook to leave with me 6 for final stretch

Is not having Ponga going to hurt?

Best case scenario is Luai and Crichton going 50+ this weekend.

What are people expecting from Hunt? He did well last 2 weeks, but the 2 before that he scored 29 and 30 in 57 minutes.

He's priced around 50, and I'm not sure he'll average enough above that to make good money.
I think he might be better than Taupau for value 17th man though if looking to save cash

Cheers mate, yeah will have to try and balance his value at 18 vs what I could upgrade to if I take his cash. Nothing I've planned so far has ended up working out due to all the injuries etc but something to keep an eye on like you say

I kept Best last week simply because I believed the WFB/CTR coverage was more valuable long term. I wanted to punt him into the sun this week but if Niu is unavailable well maybe it's not a bad idea to keep him.

    Nah still punting him.

50+ for a damn good price.

This year I really don't feel like you can assemble a fantastic 17 unless you absolutely picked all the right cash cows and avoided the dud ones. Going to have to pick someone at a value price in my opinion.
