exactly. depending on the needs of your team would help make the decision. but generally I would always argue for the more conservative/base stats in the early stages of the season and then go with the more higher ceiling when you need to get those PODs/make up some ground

Agree mate, i will go for the defensive based player more often than not as well, just saying it can be done either way

So this is how my team stacks up at the moment.

    HOK: J. Segeyaro (J. Nikorima)
FRF: A. Fifita, J. McGuire (J. Trbojevic, NPR)
    2RF: S. Burgess, R. Rochow, L. ah Mau (J. Tapine, B. Henry, NPR)
    HLF: D. Cherry-Evans, J. Maloney (J. Hastings, A. Taylor)
    CTR: B. Ferguson, D. Copley (M. Chee-Kam, K. Auva'a)
WFB: V. Holmes, M. Gordon, J. Mansour (C. Gutherson, NPR)

    Cash Remaining: $8 000

    Notes:

    - I went for a second HLF over a second Hooker. With Maloney over Peats it gives me enough to add more depth throughout my overall squad. I also believe Maloney will do the bulk of the kicking and should score well at the Sharks. (Plans to pick up Peats before Origin.)

    - Still debating on whether dropping Mansour for Slater is a good idea. If Barba is named on the bench or Holmes is still on the wing. Then I will swap out Holmes for Slater.

    Just some more on this.

    Robbie Rochow (2RF - $305 000)

Rochow played 80 minutes 3 times last year before being injured (He averaged 45ppg in those 3 games.) He played two other games last season, this results in a discount on his price due to playing less than 10 games. With the departure of Chris Houston and Beau Scott from the club, it almost ensures that he is playing 80 minutes each week. (Also take into account that T. Sims is also suspended.) He also has shown potential to score reasonably well with the ability to jag a couple 60 scores here and there. There is a reasonable possibility he can make $100 000+ this year, which combined with a Cash Cow will make an easy stepping stone to a gun.

Just on the Knights pack however, how do they stack up Pre-T. Sims return? (What round does Sims come back?)

    K. Snowden - K. Sims
    R. Rochow - J. Smith - J. Tapine

    D. Levi - J. Stockwell - M. Paea - P. Pauli (S. Mataora/D. Bhana potentials if they don't run a Hooker on the bench.)

Personally i think two gun hookers is the way to go. I dont mind niko as a 4th half because it doesnt matter so much if he flops. If seggy is out for a game you would be forced to play niko as your starting hooker.

Just on niko is he a good defender or is he one of those players that will lose plenty of points in missed tackles. Im just not sure how much money he is going to make to upgrade

Niko could easily be another Mitch Moses (in his first season especiallt) and sit around putting up crap scores and not making any money.

But if having those crap scores allows me Parker in the back row, then its probably worth it.
And hopefully someone like Te Maire Martin comes along mid season for an easy switch

    Back on to prop minutes.

Often you'd expect something like the top prop playing the first 20-30 minutes of the game, come off and then come back 15-20 minutes into the second half.

that will probably occur, but I see the difficulty being in making sure your 2 top props arent always off at the same time. That will be harder with less interchanges.
It's alright for teams like the cowboys with 3 top line props, but some teams might have trouble juggling things.

On Knights pack, apparently Korbin training in 2nd row now. Might play a bit of both from the bench, especially with his brother out

If Bhana does get a decent role he is one to watch, was a big workhorse in his 20s days. Although that doesn't always translate (eg Brendan Santi)

Any recomendations on 2rf in the 450-400k range?

I think guerra here based on the fact of how I see the roosters playing this year.

Cordner relies on attacking stats and with the potential of a totally new halves pairing and a centre not of Jennings calibre outside him I cannot see the line breaks, tries etc, in the same amount as last year.

With new halves but a big forward pack the roosters are gunna play a grind them out game of footy this year, high completions, quality defence, Guearra should make more tackles in this scenario.

    Just my 2 cents.
