Well done all, especially Mulvy on your first draft. Ready to join the draft comps next year?

Ha, was shitting myself about that too. especially drafting last/first meant 8 players coming off the board each time. Ended up caving at the end of round 9...

Wolfie's hooker obsession almost got me. I passed on Cook and CS9 at the end of the first round/beginning of the second round, thinking one of Cook/CS9/Grant/Tevaga would make it back to me at the end of the third round (with CM9 and Hunt already off the table). Given that was patently incorrect, I figured there was no point in reaching to draft a Friend or Mahoney too early (thank goodness Camo wasn't drafting too...).
I went all in on FRFs - unlike MS, I figured without Haas there was a bit of a gap between the top two (Carrigan and Klemmer) and the rest. Nobody seemed too fussed though, so instead of starting a run on FRFs, I felt like I was behind in other key positions. As well as Friend, I waited and waited on my halves, so I'd say picking up Munster in round 11 and ARey in round 13 were probably my biggest 'steals' (touch wood in case either or both of them break, as they have a habit of doing).
Apart from the hookers, the only other player I was lining up was Edwards - but MS got in before me in round 7. Looking at his stats and Penrith's form since he came back, he should be in more conversations about the third best WFB this year. I guess we all got burnt by his disastrous start last year (or was it the year before?).
edit: this is going to be the first weekend I've owned Lomax all year in any comp. going to be very strange cheering rather than cursing his second half surges this week...

Haha, we'll see. I rather enjoyed it, although between my regular fantasy team and survivor I'm bloody exhausted! Will need a good off season. Also nice use of the word "patently" Under-utilised imo. I see a lot of people in the main thread describe missed tackle busts as blatant and whilst that's probably correct usage, I've always felt the word blatant has a negative connotation attached in that it's not only obvious, but on purpose. I'm sure Rabbits thinks his missed TBs are indeed on purpose which would explain his constant use of the term. I digress.
Well done everyone on powering through the draft today, I was a bit worried about finishing when I went to bed last night. And yes that last sentence needs to made fun of.

I thought you FRF forward move was damn good. It fussed me. [My equivalent plan was to get Teddy and Ponga first round, but Hunt's dual was enough to push me towards him instead (damn - he's not playing 80 apparently)]

Yeah I also agree Jele, Carrigan and Klemmer easily the two best picks for FRF. I felt like by the time it got back to me for my second pick, FRF was similar to WFB in that there was two main picks and those behind them were at a similar level. So with all of those out already is why I got CS9, Moses and Peachey before worrying about those positions. Missing Pappy and Edwards in that next section were my most annoying moments, as well as Tolman though hopefully Saifiti at a similar level.

Centre is an absolute waste land, with the exception this week being Peachey. Plan was to either target him early, or take centre in rounds 12 and 13
Second row is by far the deepest position in fantasy. Even players 13,14 and 15 are capable of some really good fantasy scores. Because of this I planned to take them in rounds 9,10,11 unless someone like Matterson or Bateman fell a long way
Top 2: Far and away the best 2 players this week are McInnes and Cleary. High floor, high ceiling and both are capable of getting a banner. Thanks again for 3rd pick B/L
From there the plan became position scarcity. There is a top tier of hookers (McInnes, Smith, Cook, Hunt, Grant) and halves (Cleary, DCE, Moses, SJ, Hunt, Munster*) that I wanted to make sure I filled these slots with players from this tier. I wanted to avoid Munster and Grant coming back from injury but then all the hookers disappeared in front of me.
Next priority was front row. There are a group of 8 similar guys that average 50+. I wanted to make sure to get 2 of these guys which I'm pretty confident I did (AFB and McGuire). Note if Haas was playing he would have been my number 1 pick
After Ponga went off the board I had to grab Teddy and then expected the WFB run to come a whole lot quicker. I wanted to make sure I had 3 reliable guys in this space, with a noticeable gap between Teddy/Ponga and the rest. There are a few reliable options left but it starts getting dicey in after WFB8. With only 6/15 picked so far it becomes a real gamble
Also, now that it's done and dusted, I can't help but wonder if this post was designed to steer the rookie away from 2rf's? Decent tactic for sure. I was surprised Murray was still there when I got him tbh and with Yeo already gone, made me more inclined to steal another 2RF.

It was genuinely my plan, but when I saw no one else was getting centres and you only needed 1 more 2RF I decided to take my pick of the centres. I didn't plan on the AE which stung a little bit
EDIT: I was happy to run something like Frizell, McGuire and Yeo in those spots

Did you consider Fitzgibbon instead of Curtis? Fitz was next on my list.

Considered him, but thought it would be a high completion game in Manly vs Melbourne so plenty of tackles on offer. Plus Melbourne are a bit weaker than normal on the edge so chance of a try
TBH there were about 8 seconds rowers I considered in that spot

Cheers JM and Mulvy, it seemed like a good idea at the time. Can't help but think failing to land one of the gun hookers will cost me though...

Don't mind the strategy
I had Carrigan as far and away the best FRF, but think Klemmer is pretty similar tier to the next bunch
