Middles and edges makes sense, now just need the commentators to start talking about positions the same way. I feel like most of them still refer to backrowers.

Likely means less DPPs though. Which I think is good but should ideally mean a couple more trades (since squads are staying at 21

Points for intercepts and strips good - Hodgson keeper with strips??? Points for losing possession tackles will be a minefield like try saves and some other scores.

But it’s nice to see some improvements!

Happy new year you hardcore fantasists!
Just popped in to see the reaction to the position change, I think it will be good overall but depending on the number of DPP it could just see EDF (2RF) become the new FRF with everyone scrambling around for a fit 2RF at some point in the season given most of the premium 2RF were actually locks.

Tohu Harris may be one of the higher owned players if he is an "edge" but plays in the middle again

So far these changes sound pretty good, the only problem I see, the implementation from #FailHub

Good to see some people starting to come back to the forum.

Does anyone know when and how player prices are going to be released?

Well NRL.com says the app will be up and running after Australia Day so could be any day after.

Last year they started releasing each teams fantasy guides on the 16th of January (1 team per day) and then moved to 2 teams per day on the 23rd of January with the last one (West Tigers) coming out on 27th of January... Looking back at last year the NRL app opened up on 28th of Jan... but because of the legends around here we were all playing on i think it was cows team picker (could have been MTB) as the players prices were released.

The new middle forward category means just pick no props & pick locks who play big mins or rotate during the game to the edge. Most locks play 55+ mins & most props 40-45 mins

That will be the plan for final teams, but salary cap is not going to let you get 3 big minute locks in your initial team

As for 1on1 steals, I suspect they happen too rarely to base fantasy selections solely upon them. Maybe will be useful for players on the fringe of being undervalued.
The forced turnover part of the stat is going to be like try saves. Everyone will just end up complaining about their players being dudded of them

Pretty much been covered already but agree that the stats changes are largely irrelevant as they are hard to plan for.

Change to middle and edge is interesting. I feel like in initial squads for cash cows you are going to want guys that are middle eligible but play edge to lock in some consistent scores and price rises. Guys like Jacob Host/Jack Murchie. Later in the year as you want keepers it's probably about finding edge eligible players that you can choose at middle. Guys like Tohu Harris and Josh Jackson.

Won't necessarily pick those guys but that is the kind of role I'll be looking for

FWIW based on last years PPG and designated positions the best pack was:

    2RF: McInnes, Crichton, Taumalolo
    FRF: Haas, Carrigan
    HOK: Cook

If you shift to Middle and Edge positions it's:

    EDG: Crichton, Harris/Matterson
    MID: McInnes, Haas, Taumalolo
    HOK: Cook

Carrigan, harris and Matterson all avg 60.2 ppl

So it might not actually change much.

The top 15 2RFs last season by average

    Hooker/Middle: McInnes

Middle: Lolo, Carrigan, Jurbo, Brown, Twal
Middle who might've got DPP edge: Yeo

Middle who is probably an edge in 2021: Murray

    Edge: Matterson, Bateman, Frizell, Fifita
Edges who might've got DPP middle: Crichton, Harris, TPJ

It's actually a pretty even split

The change will pretty much means those locks who may have been on the edge of peoples selections that may only average around 48-53 and cost about 550-650K will be more valuable as middle forwards because they would probably average more than your next best prop that isn't Haas.

    Allan officially signed with Dogs

I’m guessing Averillo plays 5/8 this year before JAC and Burton arrive in 2022 leaving backline as Allan, Meaney, Hopoate, Cotric, DWZ, Averillo, Flanagan

The turnover tackle looks an interesting one. I hope they don’t give those out like candy

Honestly I don’t think that forced turnovers will be that hard to determine as if the attacking player drops it in contact it is normally pretty clear which defensive player caused it.

Welcome back everybody. As if this game wasn’t hard enough. With 25 rounds, and two bye rounds, how many trades do you think we need. I think a special dispensation needs to be given for centres after last year’s debacle. Good luck all.
