I think Fifita is too lazy to be a consistent fantasy scorer. I dont doubt his ability  but defenses will be all over him this year, so it will be interesting to see how he goes. Not a punt i want to start the year.

I have a big call for the big calls thread that features fifita.

Why would defences be all over him this year more than last year? He's playing in a better team this year and I'm not even on the wind-up.

Tommy is best value for starting GUN wfb isn't he? think I'll be on the hunt to start season with some value there and usually only go with 1 of the big guns.

Ponga was value last season but will be priced correctly to start this season. Edwards had best season but well below the elite tier still, Nofo been around 50 last 2 seasons. Papy priced at 50 and will be tough to go much higher.

Looks like early doors I'll go with Tommy as my risk and grab some value with other 2 picks

Early thoughts are that there could be so many cash-building MFs and EDGs under 400k that there could be a bit of cash left over for a near-gun WFB like Pap or RTS to go alongside Trbo and a cheapie.

Tommy is a risk in some ways but more of a risk not to get him when everyone else has him, which they will if he's starting the season. Having him is actually the conservative play.

100% agree. Broncos were just handing him the ball and expecting him to do something whil Taylor and Fogarty were putting Sam Stone and proctor through gaps. Imagine the opportunities Fifita could get running off halves which would actually create opportunities for him

My risk more In terms of having him as my No.1 gun WFB to start season and not going with the other big guns, but if you are correct and can fill enough elsewhere will follow suit with a second decent WFB option

Yeah good points. Might have talked me into him lol.

Just not sure on him, guess its a gut feel. In my mind i want Chrichton for one EDG spot so the other would be a cow I suppose.

Teddy? last 3 year first 2 games well below his seasonal average

    2020- 40.5
    2019 - 30.5
    2018 - 49.5

incredibly small first 2 game samples and a big upgrade needed to get him in, so likely not worth not starting with him and waiting a few games to get him at a discount

Papy firmly on my radar. His back half of the year was much better than his first half so if he can maintain it there is some upside. If I go with a gun WFB it will be Papy

I like the idea of Papy and think at some point he may get a 60 average for a season.
But even if you cherry-pick out the lower scoring first 6 games of last year, you get to a 55 average, so maybe there's a 5 point upside - which isn't bad for a likely keeper.

On Pappy if CS9 is gone & it becomes Munster's team then won't this affect Pappy. Wasn't there talk in 2020 that Pappy scored a bit less when Munster played because he wasn't getting the ball as much vs when Munster didn't play. I think Pappy will be a pick if he get gk but imo Munster will be gk.

Only Hiroti discounted & Macdonald slightly above base price with everyone else same. Williams 1k off predicted price which is probably rounding error. Only 1 DPP in Moylan, but I'm not really sure who else would be thought of as DPP bar maybe Dugan

Looks like they’re discounting players with 1 or 2 games more than expected so Staines might be 50-100k cheaper than predicted but still pretty expensive for a winger
