    Happy new year maniacs!

Hopefully Covid plays nice this year so I can get my inner bye planner on.

    Also, WTF is a BMM??

Exactly. I’ll stay clear until there is a bigger sample size.

I can find better options than Staines at this stage.

Lots of inexperienced casual players will start with him and I think they’ll be in for a rude shock and some disappointment....

Extremely tough to replicate that sort of strike rate. Would of been absolute madness getting him at his $600k+ price tag. His new price makes him less of a risk mind

@mattnz mate I want you to smash it this year so I’m gonna give you an insight into what I learnt last year. Even though I finished top 500 I was still too worried about POD options. What you rather should focus on like I’m gonna try and do is just pick who you think will score the best. 1-2 POD players is ok but you don’t need more than that.

I differ with MNZ on an hourly basis, but always appreciate his thoughts (even if Fermor isn’t a 600k centre yet). He puts a lot of original thinking in and that’s grand.

Waiting to be asked for advice is always a better plan than proffering directions. Because you never know how much weight the target is likely to give to your opinion.

@Welshy is a good guide in this - appalling rankings and admirable communication skills. As a result we’re always happy to hear from him.

Good luck again this year mate - hope you break the 100!

Staines doesn't need to continue scoring anything like that rate. If he is in the top 3 try scorers for the season he will have been good value.

Feldt always up in upper echelons of try scoring over season, 19 last year with some goalkicking and still only 35 average. Non tackle breaking wingers are a fantasy no go unless near base

I think he'll be best used as bench impact on the edge with Tohu spending a bit of time at middle, but we'll see.

even so on initial perusal of available players I think there are more cookies in the jar than last season, which will result in more variety in the make up of fantasy teams

If Staines was priced as per average, he'd be a clear avoid.
he's priced low enough that he definitely needs considering. You know he's going to put up some sub 20 dross on occasion, so needs to keep the tries up (and TBs to go with them) in order to be worth it.

Not a definite in my team, but I won't be ruling him out until TLT gives us clearly superior alternatives.
