I'm going to be taking down some notes from the boys on the Outta Their League fantasy podcast. They're starting the season with a series detailing their thoughts on each position so will be posting those in here as they comes out. Mostly for myself but if it helps someone else then all the better.

Feel free to post your reactions!

Edit: will also have some summaries for the fantasy relevant content from the “talking league fantasy podcast”

    CTR
Notes on centre: looking for a cheaper player that has the potential to outscore their price by ~10 points. Lower priority position to spend cap on. Generally good value in the cheaper options.

    Cheapies
Jake Averillo 302k DPP may play 6
Matthew Timoko 275k* short term option likely to replace Croker for 3-4 weeks
Max Feagai Minimum price* Gap left by Euan Aitken, Worth looking at if starting
Michael Oldfield Don’t do it. He’s a trap.

    Mid range
Will Hopoate 395k More attacking opportunities this year. Decent base
Latrell Mitchell 493k* High highs but low lows.
Braidon Burns 378k* Worth keeping an eye on if he starts
James Roberts 336k* Good attacking player if he has his head right
Brian Kelly 464k* Average down due to some games on wing. Finished strong 2020.
Esan Marsters 386k* Disappointing last year, can see him bouncing back
Jack Bird Unsure on price. Worth a look if he starts
Patrick Herbert 343k* Decent base stats. Could get goal kicking.
Jesse Ramien 431k High ceiling if he plays to his potential

    Premiums
Not players to start the year with
    Zac Lomax 627k*
    Bradman Best 595k*
    Campbell Graham 580k*
    Euan Aitkin 561k*
    Joseph Manu 559k*

    Byron
    Boom – Brian Kelly
Bust – Premiums. Don’t start with them
    Cow – Jake Averillo

    Liam
    Boom – James Roberts
    Bust – Latrell Mitchell

I like the OTL podcast, they know what they're talking about (one probably a bit more than the other) and they're far, far better than the late mail knuckleheads.

It's good that they're keen to put out content but it is probably a bit too early to be doing this, and especially hard with centre where teams and DPPs will be upended with trials and TLT.

Yeah good point it is pretty early. I'll carry on with it anyway even if it's just for my own learning.

    WFB

    Cheapies
Bailey Simonsen 246k Might fit in EMG well. Likely to score a bit low to start
Fantesi Niu 263k Could start WFB or CTR. Needs to score around 30 to be worth starting
Reimis Smith 300k Low base, but high upside at the Storm. Good EMG option
Matt Moylan 310k Likely to start at 6 or 1. Injury concerns
Cody Ramsey 342k Worth a look if starting

    Mid range
Charlie Staines 637k* Looks to have secured a start. Need to see some base before committing
Corey Allen 416k Need to see how he settles in before committing
Valentine Holmes 498k Likely to GK. Talented enough to become cutpriced keeper. Needs to stay injury free
Tom Trbojevic 477k Great average at WFB but repeatedly injures his hammies. Stay away in draft format

    Premiums
    Tier 1
James Tedesco 850k Probably need him in your team at some stage. Generally starts season slow but get him in early if you can
Kalyn Ponga 804k Looks like may miss early rounds, so probably don’t want to start with him

    Tier 2
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 626k Like him with the new Warriors forwards
Ryan Papenhuyzen 658k Might pick up GK. Unlikely to start with
Dylan Edwards 669k Has some injury issues. May pick up some carries off Mansour who has left
Alex Brimson 667k Finished the season in great form. Titans pack looking good. Could be a draft pickup

    Byron
    Boom – Valentine Holmes
    Bust – Corey Allan
    Cow – Fantesi Niu

    Liam
    Boom – Matt Moylan
    Bust – Charlie Staines
    Cow – Matt Moylan

Another decent fantasy podcast has started up https://www.talkingleaguepod.com/

On one listen I'd rank it below OTL but ahead of Kennedy and Late Mail.

I haven't listened yet, but he has a few good interviews coming up. One with Terry Matterson (now broncos assistant), apparently some good chat about how players will be used this year

Hey guys, TK from Talking League. I appreciate the plug of the first podcast.

We will be dropping a team analysis of each team which will feature insights from a player or coach. We've recorded the following to drop in the next week or so.

    Brisbane - Terry Matterson
    Dragons - Matt Elliott
    Roosters - Craig Fitztgibbon
    Parra - David Kidwell
    Raiders - Brett White
    Warriors - Justin Morgan

Got to record in the next week or so with Chad Townsend, Jamal Fogarty, Kyle Flangan, Billy Walters and a few others.

Will drop some positional podcasts as well.

Also doing some Q&A shows and if you want a question played on the podcast just call the hotline on 02 8405 7947

Some cash prize comps for fantasy and tipping ahead to, the GOAT Jeremy Latimore is doing a weekly tipping segments.

Any questions or feedback send them through

    Cheers Legends

And now I have to amend my rankings to put you ahead of OTL... (they're different types of show, OTL is like two guys off the fantasy forums chatting, while Talking League is more professionally produced and has insightful guests that look like they'll be more about real life RL than fantasy).

The more the merrier, look forward to the shows

    Welcome TK

That is an impressive list of guest you have. I haven't listened to your podcast yet (like others have mentioned, I think its a bit early to worry about positional analysis) but I'll tune in for th eteam analysis

best of luck for the season.

Cheers lads and always open to feedback or suggestions. I would love to develop a show that both fantasy lovers and the punters can mix and love.

So hit me up any time.

If you're into player long form stuff I have a podcast Talking with TK, mix of all sport probably 80% NRL though. I prefer the legends and coaches but a few current guys on there as well.
Warning though its long form so 60-90 mins a pod.

    Enjoy the season

Listened to the Terry Matterson Broncos preview. Some interesting stuff on from a fantasy perspective.

Main takeaways are that "ideally the starting props get 50-60 minutes", that Riki is "very raw" which could translate to not quite ready, that Milf is a vital player and that McCullough still seems to be in plans.
