Re: NRL Fantasy 2021 Part 3 - Closer
I was planning to start the year with Taumalolo and Cook as two captaincy options but the minutes article has me spooked. I've shuffled to having Cleary and Cook as options there. It does throw off my squad balance, meaning I have to pick 4 from Brailey, Brooks, Munster, Liddle and Lam to start the year on the bench.

While Radley is saying he is expecting to be fit for round 1, he is expecting to start off the bench, which would probably lock Liu in as the 13.

Order of likeliness:
1. Leniu over Leota is possible
2. Watson huge minutes, not sure on bench
3. Bird at 13, who knows with the Dragons
The others seem pretty fanciful, is Suaalii even cleared to play yet? Can't see one of the strongest teams in the comp elevating a schoolboy rugby player straight into their 17.
I expect Bird to have the utility roll of the bench

Might be similar to the role he played in 2019? at the Broncos where he would start the game in the centres and move to ball playing lock role in the back end of the game

Do you think he has 80 mins in him?

well if McCullough joins and McInnes stays on this year, the chance of Bird being a big minute lock are pretty much 0.
Just have to wait a few weeks to see what happens. Nobody is locked into making fantasy decisions now

Had a quick scan and didn't see this. Sorry if I'm late to the party and it's a repeat
Canberra coach Ricky Stuart says forwards Corey Horsburgh and Corey Harawira-Naera have been dropped after they were both hit with drink driving charges over the Christmas period.
Horsburgh will front court on February 23 for a low-range charge, while Harawira-Naera is yet to receive a court date.
But speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Stuart said that before the NRL integrity unit or the courts handed down any punishment he would be dropping both players from his side for their Round 1 clash with the Wests Tigers.

Townsend on the TK podcast says he'll be back on the right side this year, doing most of the inplay kicking, as well as goal kicking.
Priced at 33, there is some value there. Averaged 43 in 2018 with Moylan in the halves (was GK then), but I guess SJ will return in the not too distant future.
Pretty uninspiring selection but 45s is not unreasonable with the speed of the game now.

I currently have Cleary Cook and all five of those. Feels a gun short though.

Griffin is saying Ramsey is challenging Dufty for fullback. Would make him good value at fullback.

With the three big middles (Lolo, McInnes, Haas) all with question marks, is anyone just putting three cheapies in there? Or going with a Crichton, subgun with potential or midrangers? Should be enough cheapies with Watson, Lodge, LAM, Koala, BMM, Ford etc all potentials.

Re: NRL Fantasy 2021 Part 3 - Closer
lots of people started with the double gun half last year, any thoughts on starting with DCE and Cleary? DCE could be under if hes GK and the team starts of well with turbo back in.
It does make the bench look a little half heavy as also want to start with Lam and Brooks (good value there).

Our squad balance must be very similar. Reason it feels a gun short is cause we have 5 reverse options for 4 spots, that cash should probably be used on another top 17 gun

Just went Cleary to DCE, Pappy to Teddy with 1k spare. I'll be all over that if DCE got GK.

My current draft has DCE and Mun$ter.
Braily
Chricton, Ford, Kolo
Matterson, Davey
DCE, Munster
Bird, Momo
Teddy, Turbo, Laurie
Watson, Liddle, BMM, Lam
Blore, Niu, Oldfield, Howarth + 247k. Noting that the last 4 i just randomly chucked in with out much thought.

I'm considering Cleary + Munster (Lam in 14-17, Moylan +Averillo in 18-21)
Every time I trade Munster in he gets injured though, so I am wary of him.
There are a bunch of other halves who might have value and am considering, Brooks, CHT, Townsend, Milford if fit, Croker if he starts hooker.

Really love munster as a player. My only rationale behind not starting with him instead of DCE is that i don't think he'll get to a keeper stage at the end of the season, maybe that changes this year?
