If the guy had actually planned to retire, there would have been a massive announcement with huge fanfare and a benefit game. The fact that he hasn't retired leads me to believe he is more likely to return. How many boxers have announced their retirement then come back to box. If he was 90% sure he wanted to retire, he would have already. A comeback could still have happened if he wanted it to.
If either Broncos or Titans are looking like top 4 contenders after a few rounds, he has hedged his bets and retained his legacy, swoops in and tries to lead them to glory. If both are languishing near the bottom of the table, he retires.
he already had a testimonial game and he quit origin with minimal fuss. last season was basically a farewell tour, they were carrying off the ground and shit in his last game at suncorp
not saying he planned to retire but it is looking that way to me.
i dont really care what he does but the way the media has carried on about how he won't tell them what he's doing, cracks me up.

It was the year JT retired because it was a JT/Smith testimonial to all the shit they have achieved in the game. I went to it... I remember sitting in like the 5th row it was absolutely pelleting down!!! I soldiered on.

It sounds like he may get the starting role for round 1 but as you say, his job security doesn’t look great.Mulvy wrote:
Chucky, what's your opinion on Croker? Job security seems way too risky to me to consider.
I just read a Daily Telegraph report talking up a young bloke called Jack Birt who is another option.
Personally I’m hoping they go with Cade Cust.

It wouldn't surprise me if he has signed on with 9 to be part of their commentary team and they've told him to keep shtum about the retirement so that they can have the big exclusive. Maybe during tonight's All-Star broadcast.
