I am just not convinced Koroisau will maintain his 60 average.

I wouldn't be surprised if he drops a couple of points. Just think he had a couple of outlier high scores last year I am not confident of him repeating that. If you think he can maintain or improve on last year then that changes the equation.

Cook has a higher floor and higher ceiling. Main concern is being rested around origin. If I have Cook/Teddy/Cleary then Cook is probably the first one in line to go out and back in again over origin period. Assuming don't waste too many trades elsewhere that would be more point effective

    Scores at centre with tries - 34, 43, 96, 62, 40, 35

    Scores at centre without tries - 22, 32, 57, 7

Small sample size either way but he's priced at 27 and if you think he'll get the attacking stats to average high 30s he's a good buy I guess. Thing is guys like Roberts or Bird or even Hopoate if you think the dogs are going to improve have fantasy pedigree and are in the same price range. Personally there's way too much risk and way better options for me to go anywhere near him

The non-origin gun chat is interesting. So many questions over them.

Koro - points, plenty of HK around
    Tolo - role/minutes
    Harris - NZ pack role/minutes
RyMatt - origin fringe, head, Edge is not needed.
Moses - tempting, but plenty HLFs
Tolman - wait he's how much? God no.
    NBrown - tempting
    Mofo - probably fully priced
Twal - tempting, probably full priced
Vaughan - it is not 2019
Jazz - role questions. Not cheap. Final 17 gun?
    Tauk - damn tempting
JFH - probably fully priced - maybe not a final gun
Fog - tempting, would be my 4th HLF pick
Taupau - heh. - maybe not a final gun
AFB - fully priced - maybe not a final gun
    RTS - tempting

    --------------------------------

Out of that list I'd be itnerested in Tofu, Jazz, RTS, Tauk - who play play bye 2

Then there's NBrown, Moses and Fog left for R1. And none of them made my early drafts. Time to include heartbreaker-slow-ankle-healing Brown? But if he canes it (and I'm buying him to) then he's Origin fringe again. Moses and Fog feels Poddy, but that's not my style early.

Bye planning looks garbage this year.

Yes - since 2017. Was 5.7mil (for all coaching staff) then, not sure if it's increased.

I know it was announced and the idea was to stop the Tigers paying for 6 coaches at once and Melbourne having a personal bag carrying coach for each player. But did it ever actually happen. I tried chasing this down last year and couldn't find anything current or about the actual implementation of it.

I appreciate your bitterness, but feel you should've included Tedesco (albeit finals hungry) and especially for not coming home after his indulgent dalliance with the Roosters highlife

I gave him a pass for this back flip

I think it's a soft cap, and clubs have to pay a 37% luxury tax if they go over. I found an article from last year that mentioned changes to the rules around the football department cap, implying that it's definitely in place. V'landys was looking at forcing clubs to deduct payouts to sacked coaches over the full term of their contract, rather than a lump sum in one year where they can pay the fine and move on (like the Broncos did with Siebold).

I think last year's scoring is replicable for Koro, but Cook does have extra upside (if Wayne gives him his running license back). Just at the stage of pre-season where second-guessing every selection, roll on mid-March.

Oh yeah, nice. I wish they rolled it out like a normal TLT for all games on the weekend. Would make for an interesting read.

As a non-TV owning footy fan, I've relied on the NRL live streaming on their app for the last few years (which I got for free as a Telstra customer). They've discontinued it this year, but if you've used it previously through Telstra you're eligible for discounted Kayo for 12 months. $5/mth which is a pretty good deal.

Does mean I'll probably end up shelling out full price for Kayo next year when the discount ends though Crying or Very sad

Oldfield will miss the first month of the NRL season. Seemed like Opacic was favoured for left centre spot but that should probabyl lock him in.

Don't know about you guys, but Kayo seems to come across so clear. Sometimes clearer than watching on channel 9 or fox sports. It is crazy definition.

Teddy was never after the money. The asylum would happily have paid him whatever he wanted. Can’t blame him for leaving, he’s done pretty well whike we are still shit!

All this talk of a gun hooker has me slightly confused. How can your team properly balance given you probably need two mids on the bench, two WFBs, an edge, a centre, and a half, leaving one bench spot for a spare hooker. Assuming you whack Watson in the middle you still have Liddle + Brailey. Where are you sacrificing? Are people really running one spare bench mid or wfb? I'm seeing teams with Teddy + two cheap WFBs who could be dropped next week or stuck scoring 25s for eternity, and mid stacked with cheapies who's positions are not secure.

I mean I'd love to run one but the only way I can do it is if I sacrifice Munster and have Moylan as hlf/wfb cover on my bench which is fucked enough given Lam could be booted.

Would love to hear some thought processes I'm liable to be a moron

    https://i.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/warriors/124291175/warriors-eliesa-katoa-has-operation-on-cheekbone-could-miss-start-of-nrl-season

Article is about Katoa and injury (may not be fit for round 1), but does mention Harris

“Tohu is at the stage of his career where playing in the middle is what he prefers now,” Brown said.

“So we’re very happy to do that, unless we need to play him on an edge.

“Whether Tohu plays on the edge will be determined by injuries and the form of our younger players.

“Obviously, we’ve got Eli, who has developed well, Josh Curran, Jack Murchie, Bayley Sironen can play there, but he can also play in the middle.

“So we’ve a number of things that can determine that, but his preference is to play in the middle and our preference is to play him there, but he’s obviously an outstanding player, who can play both roles.

“So form and injuries will probably determine this over the course of the journey.”

I certainly don't blame him (though do somewhat blame Cleary Senior for giving him an ultimatum), I do lament it of course.
But yeah, the Tigers management What a Face
