If you guys were going to start without one of them, who do you start without?

I've got both, will be highest average in their respective positions (I think by a country mile).
So, getting them from the start means more points, and saves the inevitable stuffing around trading to get them in and deciding when the optimal time is.

But, if you held a gun to my head gun - Teddy.
Pappy & Brimson will be within 10 points to start - and yes that is a lot, but Teddy's points and price will fluctuate (like it's already been stated on the forum).
Cleary is far and away the safest (C) option.

Gosi doesnt score well for sure. But i think he will be starting for manly.

That said, as bad as his scoring is, he avgs 35 when starting second row playing over 60 mins.. priced at 22 ??

Can make an argument for him tbh.. have to question whether he plays 80 and/or keeps the spot.

Guacamole a smokey to start at some point too

Because Gosiewski sucks in fantasy and I'd lean towards putting him in EMG rather than in 17 or even not picking him

Seems very reliant on tries to boost scores (and still has <30 scores with a try)

Also can get shifted to CTR quite often given how injury-prone Manly's backline is

I wasn't really promoting picking Gosi (though there's an argument for it), more saying don't hang your hat on Davey in your starting 17 and have a backup strategy because it's pretty unlikely he'll be starting.

Davey was singled out as having a great game by Des, when the team got routed. I expected they would get 40 minutes each in the trial and that is what happened. The odds of Davey starting are far higher than the 5% you thought in an earlier post.

Theres a possibility he did enough to be selected, for sure. Gosi played reasonably well in the trial too.

Someone plays well in nsw cup every week but it doesnr mean theyre gonna start in the nrl the week after. That second half was basically a nsw cup squad given des rested 7 of his best 13 for the trial and then subbed most of the others off at half time.

I aint reading much into that. I reckon davey ends up at 17 on TLT

    Hi All,
I've been lurking for the past few days and can't until we get started next week.   I have noticed not many have mentioned Peachy at CTR. This is my team so far but a few changes are inevitable after TLT, especially on the bench. Any thoughts ??

I no B/L has already opted out and it is a bit late but is anyone interested in stepping up and running NRLFF Survivor? I don't expect anyone to as it is very time consuming to run and it would be hard to replicate B/L's mammoth effort from last year but I was just wondering if anyone wanted to as it was a lot of fun last year and helped me to get to know what other members of this forum are like.

Also the ladder predictor thread is open in the Rugby League section if anyone is interested

Pretty much my approach to it. If I can make a decent, competitive team from day 1 with both Cleary and Teddy in it I might as well.

I could see an argument for leaving out Teddy and opting for someone like Papenhuyzen to start instead but with Cleary I just think you're up against it from the start because without Haas there's not a stand-out alternative C option to Cleary.

Yeah you're probably in danger of TLT being unkind to you. Alvaro, Simpkins, Iermia would all be very up in the air and BMM may not start.

Personally I feel like starting with both Papenhuyzen and Brimson is overspending in the WFB area too.

Would definitely go Laurie over Hoy. Hoy is certain to be out by round 4 when Ponga returns (potentially as early as round 2). Mbye has been saying how important a bench role is, so seems resigned to being behind Laurie for fullback.

Edrick Lee has been ruled out of the season opener against the Bulldogs but Hymel Hunt (hamstring) should be available for round one selection.

    Welcome

Not a bad team. Good to see a few different picks.
I can see why you've picked Paulo with talk around him playing bigger mins. Personally I think the speed of the game may have something to say about that.
Townsend is not a common pick, I can see the upside with SJ out.
I love Peachey, but I prefer not to spend too much $$$ on centres.
I have a feeling CS9 may end up taking Turpin's spot.
BMM highlight vids are great, and I have no doubt he will have some great runs in the NRL, but will he be consistent?

    Just a few thoughts

Lol love how Ponga himself saying "round four, five.or six" and the 100% reliable Newcastle reporter Barry Toohey saying "round five, give or take a week" becomes "certainly by round four and potentially round two."

If Hoy was in your drafts you'd be saying he would get at least until round six and potentially round eight. It's ridiculous.
