I was switching between BSmith and Welch right up till lockout. Funny they scored the same points.
My only concern with Smith is was he trying to pace himself to play close to 80? Thought he could have run from dummy half abit more. As mentioned hes not a big tackle bot so need those attacking stats to get over 50

What I liked about Latrell was when they were down in the first half it was Latrell who got his team back in the game. I don't call that lazy. I'm going to buy him for round 2 & probably sell Capewell. However if Capewell goes good I'll need to find some other smuck to sell.

Yeah Host sucks but given the cash I had on hand and the options to choose from I can't throw too much of a hissy fit about it.

Had about 400k to use, did I run with an outside back who could be inconsistent like Isaako or Bird, or did I pick someone who has just as much of a chance to be a trap like Gosiewski.

It's worth waiting another week just to see what Souths forward rotation is like. It is unheard of for neither back-rower to play 80 minutes and without Tom Burgess potentially there could be a reshuffle there too.

Paix cut from Broncos extended bench. Looks good for Turpin

Dearden still there. Will he, won't he.

Not a Turps owner, but would’ve thought the threat was always Dearden rather than Paix being elevated to the bench.

At least the Broncos always play early and at his price there will be plenty of late replacement options for any nervous owners.

Pretty confident Dearden isn't playing. Asiata would/could fill in at DH if in dire need.

Regardless, if Dearden is there he isn't going to chop into Turpin's mins by design

Yeah was more worried about Paix than Dearden. Thanks for the insight though

Without benefit of hindsight I am comfortable with Host. Way I setup my team meant I had to go for him, Gosiewski or Fuimaono, and I thought he'd go alright for his price.
Once we've seen everyone's scores, the right choice will present itself, but until then just have to roll with the punches.

I can see what people mean about already coming up with scenarios to turn everything upside down to fit someone in your team.

I just saw I could trade Lam for someone like Ogden which would free up about 215k so I could go Host to Latrell next week and bam there's my WFB set for the year. Yes I just said 5 minutes ago I'd be patient and actually I think that's what I'll do.

That type of rushed thinking is what always make me burn all my trades before the season is out and I'm left with just 13 fit players in the second last round of the season. Yeah that happened to me last year and it wasn't pretty.

It looked like last nights game - with the ball in play more - was played more down the channels and edges than through the middle. Could be a reason for the lower tackle counts of your traditional tackle bot type players?
Yes both teams were playing side to side in an expansive game. Would expect the Eels game to be a bit different for the storm next week.

I’m pretty stoked with the start from Latrell. I was backing him based on the positive chat around the grounds in the off season and that it’s his second year back in the FB position so would be more used to the position. Hopefully he can keep it up. Great sign for things to come though. I’m also happy with Welch and Papy’s scores.

It’s not the first time though I’ve had a cracker start then the round goes downhill!

Reckon the sooking about Host is a bit premature. Save your tears for the other rounds, plenty more 20s to come.

Host for many people was a way of getting someone more valuable in. Not for banging out 50s.

Not entirely true, ownership doesn't tell you whether teams play them in the 17 or out - I dare say those who have him outside the 17 will have a sliiiiightly different reaction to those with him inside the 17 in that scenario

To answer Milchcow's question from what feels like 6 threads ago. Papy is the player people will tear up their team to buy. If you don't have him you would have to be concerned. Nobody else over or under performed by enough to warrant a panic buy or sell.

To weigh into the Lattrell debate (yep I did). He's not match fir certainly not for the current speed, he is reads a game well but over all is lazy. Recover the kick pass it to a winger so you don't have to run and get tackled, then get into dummy half and throw a shit pass.

Last but not least @Adam Reynold that's why you were offered 1 year. An over the hill play maker who probably should be retired came on and in 2 minutes had you on the board and in 10 minutes had you back in the game. You're a glorified Daryl Halligan. Coops was right.
