Sam Walker was named to start in NSW Cup. Which doesn't normally happen if they know he'll be playing first grade
Not to say they won't change their mind

Just thinking he is the kind of guy that can spark them from the bench, more than Lussick would offer. Gives him an opportunity to show what he can do in first grade, and potentially land the starting 6 / 7 role in time.ytsb wrote:
It's just for a week Matt. Verills will be the starting hooker after a game or two on the pine

Bumders wrote:thought as it was his first game back he would ease back in and be handed more minutes if he found his old form. He has had a pretty decent start and could be a reasonable POD? I will probably cave and take two of the previously mentioned names (for Lodge/Host) but was trying to think outside the box.
Such a rookie here... didn't mean to start a whole thread, thought i was within a conversation...

The only player I can trade him out for is NAS, the player I last minute traded him for in the first place. Leniu is the only other FRF I’m interested in. Is Mead a must buy this week or can he wait until next week?

Agreed @Welshy; as an old dog (pushing 50 this year) - I've seen way too many young players blooded at NRL level before they are physically or emotionally ready for the pressure of full-time professional sport.
It's not just being physically big enough, they struggle with the $, the glare of public scrutiny and weight of expectation.
I actually think the NRL should expand the U20s comp; give the kids a chance to train in the system without being in the first grade squad until they are 20+.
Look at the positive effect of Luai waiting (learning from) Maloney at the Panthers. He could have been a regular 1st grader at a different club, but is a better player for his time developing.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Got him in my draft team, would love to have him join my classic team but don’t think it will happen somehowmattnz wrote:
I am looking at Too instead. Tackle busting beast, in a top team. Without Mansour there this season, lots of running meters available. If he scores a lot of tries as well, will kick ass.
I see he got a couple of TOs in round 1 as well. Will rewatch the game, but will be interested to see if putting your opposing winger over the sideline is deemed a turnover, as it should be. Could see wingers get quite a few of them in games if it is.

Early Mail: Roosters rookie Sam Walker is in line to make his debut despite being named in the reserves. “Sam Walker is right in the frame to make his NRL debut this weekend,” The Daily Telegraph’s Dave Riccio said on NRL Tonight. “There could be a change to the spine that may see Lachlan Lam move from five-eighth into dummyhalf to give Freddy Lussick a breather, which would then allow Sam Walker to come into the game off the bench.”

I've brought him in for BSmith. Last year was a big adjustment as his 1st year at FB, he looks a lot fitter and hungrier this season. I also think Benji will provide more opportunity for Latrell to be in the right fantasy scoring positions. In saying that, he was already on 30+ points before scoring a try.The Pascoe Fiasco wrote:Am I crazy to want to get Mitchell in? I had him and traded him out just before Rd1 kickoff. Spose that's terrible for Lam?? His points didn't seem to move once he switched to dummy half.
