Anyone tempted by the Koala? Cuddly, DPP, soft, seems to have locked down an edge with a low BE?

Don't know why we're all talking about movies but here's one of my favourites from the 90's, Heat.
Crime masterpiece, one of the great shootout scenes in movie history and Al Pacino ranting about the fact "SHE'S GOT A GREAT ASS!!!"

Getting Pacino and DeNiro into one epic scene alone make Heat a must view for gangster genre films.
That cafe scene is just perfect.

Pros:
- Low break even after back to back scores of 67
- Has a bit of money to make
- DPP
Cons:
- has a tough draw coming up, may not get as many attacking stats
- doesn't play round 13
- only has about 125k to make if he pushes his avg to 50
Kudos to those who have him already

Seems like Hampton was gonna get scans on his pec. Yeah so not expecting him to play if that's the case lol.

Had guests all weekend, I assume I was missed?
949 playing 16 and dropped about a hundred places to 1149th.
Didn't expect Walsh to get all dem KMs. Feels like a Ponga vs Abbey moment. Job security questionable but the kid is a gun. Might have to get him in after all.
Forrest Gump. Saw it twice at the cinema.

Zac Cini in my team it is then. Madge is probably going to drop him in a fortnight and another trade on a CTR is going to be incoming.

GreenMachine wrote:Beyond sound knowledge, some good pre-season selections, and due care for your gut, eye test and stats, the game for me ultimately falls into 3 key areas of skill, and these make up the reason our skilled players are repeat offenders of high finishes;
1. Timing - even more important than number 2. Where BEs are maximised, points are optimized and trades are only WHEN essential. It is sometimes beating the crowd to a key player by a couple of weeks and other times just moving on a fully milked cow.
2. Decision Making - it is just a series of good and/or bad decisions and much like poker, he/she who makes the most good decisions will likely prosper. Come in many forms, from choosing to bring in only first bye round players in weeks leading up (can be good or bad retrospectively), through to A vs B individual trade/player decisions
3. Trade Management & Bye Planning - not bye round planning in the first few rounds of the season doesn’t break your season, but it could make it... and striking the right balance over origin and 2 bye rounds through good planning, will see skilled players take over at least 90% of the games players in that 6-8 week period. Many will end their season at the hand of wasted trades.
Reflections so far for me is on TIMING, because 2 and 3 remain works in progress by this stage of the season;
Best Timing - Captaining Fifita against Cleary when he hit a ton
Great Timing - Cleary, Papman, Fifita, Brailey: Had them from the start and they proved value essentials.
Good Timing - Starting with Momorovski over the likes of Roberts and Bird. He looked the best value centre and maybe with exception of Opacic and at a stretch Averillo or Hampton, he’s worked out despite the suspension. Holding Tino was something else memorable with the “just one more week” delivering a big return but Running it a close second is assuming a bottoming out correctly, by bringing in Haas a week or 2 earlier than the masses hitting close to a very high break even
Sound Timing - Pre season pick of Laurie was very popular and correct, as was in-season pick of Schuster once named, perhaps a worthy mention to not picking Tedesco just yet. He’s been matched by cheaper and not completely troubled the scorera when scoring a load of tries
Ill timing - Dropping Averillo, BSmith, Riki and Turpin all too early.
Poor Timing - not buying IPap at all (yet). Buying Leniu after season start, not as a pre season cow only.
Worst Timing - still to come. Get the feeling I’ve yet to make my worst move yet with season going OK
For me, my timing hasn't been that bad, though most of my good calls were not so much the guys I bought, but the guys I didn't buy (Davey etc.)
Best timing: Captaining Fifita the week that Cleary was out, and buying Momirovski for Host after round 1 instead of another forward
Great timing: Starting with Cleary/Papy/Fifi/Brailey/Bird, and captaining Cleary every single week except round 3
Good timing: Going early on Sam Walker and (more importantly) getting Simonsson out of my team despite that trade
Sound timing: Got the popular cash cows like Laurie/Schuster, and also sold Fog to Moses at a good time
Ill timing: Selling Averillo early and starting with Teddy (I still think he's a hold to the end but I could have got another gun - though if Keary hadn't gone down, starting with him would have been the right call)
Poor timing: Same as you
Worst timing: Buying CT the week he got injured

Not sure what conversation was set off from my post, but these were just the first ones I thought of.
The Usual Suspects is one of the best 90s films for sure.
As an English teacher, I get to be a bit of a film buff for work.
Added bonus is rubbishing the Star Wars sequels and telling Gen Z kiddies that they wouldn't know a great film if it smacked them in the face.
I've see a heap of great films added here, Braveheart being one - how bout you fellas add your 3 fav films and we'll see how many great films are out there.
I think the best thing about 1990s cinema was the rise of Tarantino and the flow on that allowed directors like Fincher to get their films made.
The last decade has been fun - but dominated by Marvel type franchise films, super heroes etc. great for a big screen, lots of effects etc. but light on when it comes to getting you to think about the world.
The last movie I saw that had me walking out mind-blown was Joker.
Recent movies like this are out there if you look for them.
Some recent(ish) non-superhero recommendations that make you think:
Ex Machina
10 Cloverfield Lane
Annihilation
Arrival
Whiplash
Actually, should probably move this out of the fantasy thread. Will post in the TV thread:

I watched Palm Springs (Andy Samberg) recently, really good movie. Didn't expect a rehash of the 'groundhog day' style movie to work but they killed it.
