Manly's pack and bench are absolutely rotten this week. You'd have to go some to lose. Not saying it can't be done...

Feel dirty saying it, but is May an option? Dual, R13, secure if limited role in a good team. Just plug in his 20 odd and forget about it.

Almost zero chance Mahoney plays for QLD unless Brimson plays ctr. Otherwise, he'll be the 14 and Mahoney will be LRO

Interesting thought. With the new 18th man in teams for foul play or 3 HIA’s who do we think will be the 18th players for origin because they won’t be released back to their club to play invade of foul play. Posibility of Mahoney,to’o and a few other players being in the frame.

Good point which potentially fucks fantasy right up. Depends on composition of bench... if both are hookerless (Brimson/Pap) then they might have a hooker as 18th in case Grant/Cook go down. So that brings Mahoney and Api into the frame.

I know it would be every fantasy players worst nightmare but a fairer system of the 18th man rule would probably to name 5 on the bench and only be able to play four with the exemption of the 18th man rule currently in place. For example, no one wants to carry a outside back on their bench but if a winger or centre gets injured it normally causes a major reshuffle. You could then carry a winger/Centre on your bench and if there is an injury to an outside back you can chuck them in and not play one of your middle forwards or someone else on the bench

I wish theyd just leave the fucking game alone for five mins. The rules were fine. The changes are stupid. And now we are making more changes to help deal with the stupid changes. Fuck PVL and his dickheads

Wholeheartedly agree. I thought it was a new phenomenon, but did a little digging a few years ago and found out they've been changing rules all along.

Any team losing 3 or 4 players during the game has almost no chance to win. It restores some balance and gives them a chance.

They’ve had unofficial 18th man for a while who can play bye round so it’d probably be same no??

Well thats my point. All these injuries due to no thought given changes to the rules and now they need to make more rule changes to try curb the problem

What are you expecting from Carty mate? Brown named but if he were out and he started on the edge I could understand. Are you interested in the premise of him playing from the bench? I kind of don't hate the idea.

Yeah I've brought up the 18th man thing for origin a couple of times the past weeks, but in the end I figured the clubs are gonna be pissed if their player is 18th man and can't play Rd 13. The chances of the 18th man being used are pretty low and would only be a minimal amount of time anyway. Can't see why they wouldn't be able to play Rd 13 if eligible.

Perhaps 18th man from a bye team would work.
