Sorry dudes, I know the CTR talk gets a little tiresome, but I'm looking at someone under $419K to stop this endless fuck-around with centres. I've had Bird from the start, but the other position has been filled by Averillo, Niu, Hampton and Cini. Trading out the biggest dud of them all this week as I can't stand to look at him anywhere my team. Doesn't leave me much cash to play with, though, but that's cool. Don't want to spend a lot as my goal is Lomax in a few weeks. So, what I'm looking at goes a little like this;
Brayden Musgrove - seems to be holding his position, but loses it when Edrick Lee returns? Is that who he's filling in for? Cheap as all fuck, but for good reason so very unappealing.
Max Feagai - actually seems like an okay option, except he loses his spot when Pereira returns next wee? Or the week after? But either way, he's gone in a week or two?
Tommy Talau - holy shit, didn't realise he was so cheap - 264K. What's his job security like? Surely he's likely to hold a spot somewhere in starting side? I kind of like this option, but am hesitant to pick another Tiger.
Moses Mbye - didn't want to utter his name in this list, but what are the odds this reshuffle stays like this for a while? Even as poor as he is, playing 80mins in halves would surely be worth a punt for a CTR. Again, though, hesitant to pick another Tiger because it's a so volatile there.
Seb Kris - scoring poorly after a strong start to the year, and drops out when Croker returns?
Jesse Arthars - I actually like this kid as a player and would be happy to punt on him if I had any faith in his job security. But he's kind of in the same bundle as the Tigers for me. I'd be hesitant to take a punt on him for fear that he's only one poor game away from being dropped?
Tyrone May - a couple of serviceable scores in recent weeks, but with the minutes he gets is he likely to keep hitting 30's?
BJ - same as the Tigers above. Don't mind him based on potential, how far he is underpriced and what he can do... but job security again a big question mark.
Nick Cotric - this is kind of where I've landed. Is it a terrible idea? Cons are he's scoring pretty poorly and he's in a horrendous team who don't look like winning or even scoring tries. But the biggest pro for me is his job security. He seems very unlikely to lose his spot and his floor seems okay enough for a CTR, to hope he jags an extra few points here and there to make him at least useable. He just seems like the least stressful option?
And Cotric is 360K which is about where I want to stop looking - don't want to spend more than that.
Burns can be a great player, but injury history too much of a worry for me, Hopoate too sub-par for extra dollars, Dugan's JS an issue now, and bloody Morgan Harper just out of my price bracket.
So apologies for that, hombres. Hope none of you actually read that, but if you did, in my position - just wanting a serviceable CTR to play week in / week out, without having to worry to much about it, is Cotric the best of a pretty poor bunch?
If I had to rank them, I think it'd be;
1. Cotric
2. Talau
3. BJ
Anyone have some hard commentary on this list? Do we see Talau's position in any threat? Wow, just saw he's scored a 1 & 7 on the wing in recent weeks, in 77 and 80min matches. Eek. So Cotric it is?
@Teeth Eater Good write up of exactly what I am pondering.
I don't trust Maguire so am not considering Mbye, he could shift to the bench before kick off this week and if you ask most Tigers fans he shouldn't be in the side at all (not even bench utility).
Tempted by BJ at his price and with his potential, could also be motivated in a contract year. He has been dropped once already this year but I think his job security is ok for the next few weeks at least.
Cotric definitely the safest albeit most uninspiring pick. Good js but those tb's have dried up and the dogs have a woeful attack.
The other option would be to run 16 this week and see if a decent cheapie pops up next week. There are a couple of better centes with higher break evens who will be ripe for the picking over the next month or so.
