Teddy isnt looking close to must have this season, lots of WFB options that can score at least as well.
I wouldn't count on that. Multiple seasons of Teddy being the guy and as cheap as he's ever been in this fantasy setup due to the injured 6.
Would be mad not to jump on before he's back up over 800k.

I have the same team value. While my team is screwed this week, only playing 15, cash generation should go well, with all of Starling, Hynes and Walsh already in the team. I plan to bring Curran back in when he next starts as well.easytiger wrote:
I did my planning a couple of weeks back - obviously you have to be very fluid with this stuff because so much can (and will) change between now and R18/19.
I'm at 13.1 mil and was aiming around a 14.2 mil squad (so $1,100k short - or One Cleary in Standard International Captaincy units).
A few crashes last week - Papenhuyzen, Haas & Burton & Taumalolo (to a lesser degree) helped bring that in to about $800k short.
I'm hoping to mostly bridge that divide with getting guns on a low ebb, but this week decided to waste 2 trades on quick cash generation boosts to create a bit more wiggle room.

I don't base season long decisions on a few weeks of scoring

Got to agree tbh, he will be a must have at some point of this season and it may not necessarily be because of his season avg but if he finds form and you got such a lethal scorer for under 600k it's going to cost not owning him.

Sorry team didn't look back at the other pages first seems everyone has the same problem guess I'll play it safe with 48 also
tricky one. I would lean towards Walker vs donkeys.

I grabbed Walsh this week instead.WT Winfield wrote:

If you have a back 3 of Papy, Too, Walsh, I don't think you need Teddy as well. The other 3 are all scoring more consistently and he is the most likely to miss extra games over the Origin period.

Especially when in those games his team has 40% possession and complete 70%....
Not much he can do when that happens... eg parra game and melbourne game
Still an absolute gun, would be crazy not to get him now

I'm 390/7 so far which I am happy with. Waiting for some disappointment today.

Surely he trumps one of your bench players ? And 4 players with a high potential to banner is better than 3 right ?

Pap has missed a bunch of games now, and running 4 WFBs under these rules isn't a bad move anyway. To'o will have his share of down games as a winger. Walsh's positional security isn't great either.
Swerving on Teddy at that price is a really bad move imo.

Bird? Popular fan opinion has Latrell and Turbo as the centres. Stephen Crichton was close last year. I don't think he's a sure thing.

Bird is well and truely in the conversation for both right centre (Turbo wing) and bench utility. Not sure if he actually ends up with the spot, but will be close

Ah well if Bird gets picked at least I have Reimis.
Edit: He says confidently, days before Reimis breaks a leg.

I'd generally say one bad week of playing a couple of short is less of a problem then unsufficient squad value over 8+ weeks, so sounds like you're putting yourself in a good spot.
I'm sure you'll bounce back!

Interesting, I would have thought JAC and either To'o or Tupou were going to be the 2 and 5.
Well it does convince me further that one shouldn't go too heavy on the bye planning. Injuries, suspensions, surprise Origin selections. So many curveballs that can be thrown.

Can't find it anywhere but Denis Carnahan did "Raiders and the Storm" many years ago

I think this year has been the most low-key ten rounds for Teddy that I can recall and he's still managed to scrape a 51 average.
Nathan Brown has stated on multiple occasions that he won't be over-working Walsh by starting him every week.
Nathan Brown wrote:"For an 18-year-old to have only three or four games of footy in 18 months, then to become a starting first-grader in one of our more demanding positions is probably a little unrealistic," Brown said.
"I do get when people watch him come on and see what he does and think I'm a bit of a dumbo - I get that.
"(But) Reece's parents took a big punt on coming to us, so I've got an obligation to protect him.
"Am I over-protecting him? Maybe a little bit. But he'll certainly start some games for us."
I grabbed him this week too, but I'm not expecting him to be a final 17 player.
Hopefully he makes good cash between now and R18 and gets a start in R17.
Anything beyond that is a bonus IMO.

I’ve got Walsh envy. Sticking to bye planning is tough when all of the shiny toys so far aren’t eligible under my selection criteria
