Pretty much hit the nail on the head there.
Back to mulling over TPJ or Thompson. You had a look into these two as well? I too am after a MID for this week after Angus' suspension and these two are sticking out. Not considering Papali'i due to being 100k more.
Yeah, I don't mind Thompson - but I'd rather a R13 player - and would probably just jump to Tohu in that instance.
I'd like TPJ, but feel there's a significant chance he gets a Blues nod.
It seems like he's cleaned up his attitude and his discipline (would've been one of the odds-on favourites for a suspension under the rule changes), has a game that suits Origin and will be handy as cover for the Edge while being able to play in the middle.
I think he's at least 40% chance of selection and it defeats the point for me if he ends up unavailable for R13.
I had settled on rolling the dice with Ford - should average within 10 of JFH and could make me some handy coin in the next month - but I think JDB has thrown that plan out the window.

I was looking at Nathan Brown. He's priced pretty well now. Don't think it's worth a trade though so I'll probably hold Walker

He has still been training with the team right? Could be an interesting POD for round 13
Doubt he would be a POD for more than 5 minutes if named next week.

Already got Tohu - but would get him if I didn't have him already. Crazy consistent. Yeah the risk of TPJ is putting me off - so may go Thompson and cop the non player in R13, but plays every round after that.
If you go Ford that'll be fine for a month. I highly doubt JDB will jump straight back in. He's been out of the game for 2+ years and hasn't played under the new rules. Would need a few weeks of reserve grade before he's even in IMO

Ford was already a massive gamble. JDB can essentially play this weekend. He isn’t out of shape and has been training with reserves and is in game shape.

Who would you rather trade out (to trade in Tohu and Walsh)?

I mostly agree. Ford was a moderate risk before, now there's a fair chance he might just get one week before being replaced.
I'm not going to play those odds.
The JDB Case is expected to be officially dropped at court tomorrow.
Additionally;

The club want the former NSW State of Origin representative to make his return in a NSW Cup fixture against Western Suburbs at Lidcombe Oval on Saturday.
I think there's a strong chance he's named for R13.

He can't play NRL this weekend, he wasn't named in the squad and there is no way the NRL are giving the Dragons dispensation. He can play NSW cup.
He should definitely line up in an NRL 'shit bloke' 17

That seems ridiculous but more importantly stuffs up my trade plans if it happens. Might have to play Sam Walker this week after all, see where the Origin team lands before a decisions. Which means wearing the price fall.

What do we think JDB will be priced at?

Yeah, I think you're right about Tohu.
I'm reticent to grab players at their peak price (which I think he is at), largely as I've not generated enough bank for that luxury - but it beats buying someone for R13 only to have them miss the week due to origin selection.
Briefly considered Nathan Brown ($536k) - priced at 44 and unlikely to make NSW IMO (played under 20 mins in his two appearances last year - and just not that necessary to the Blues) and always seems to have a slow first half of the year but a strong back-end to the year.
Who know's, maybe I'll roll the dice on that one...

Brent Read just wrote a article in the Australian saying he could suit up this weekend. Although unlikely. NRL CEO also said the process to get him back is a very quick process. So Ford is a no go for me
