Was speaking with a mate over the game last week and we decided that Jazz wouldn't be in a Warriors Premiership winning team, so it's a shame to see them not listen to us and proceed regardless.

He's a good first grader and can turn games in a moment. Has been more bad than good lately but no doubt he'll have his days again.
At worst, I can't imagine anyone was banging down the door to sign nor would he want to play for anyone else so we probably got a pretty cheap two years out of him.

He's a divisive character from what I've heard*. If you like him and he likes you, all good. He's not the type of coach to take in all personalities, and then get the best out of them, like a Bennett/Robinson/etc. You either fit into what Griffin wants, or you don't.

Old school military approach. He may have changed in older age but his twitter account activity doesn't suggest so.

*mate of mine was good mates with one of the Broncos players back in the Griffin era.

@Mulvy it's me vs you in L9 this week. How many do you have for R13?

Jumping Marlin wrote:Planning on bringing in one or maybe two of these players.  I’m assuming they’re in my team for the year.  My rank order matches their cost.

Hunt 669 - seems to be running the ball well - have a soft spot for him as I rode him to my best ever single round rank a few years back.

Mahoney 668 - least likely to regress - although he has lost a few minutes lately and I recall start of year coach saying he wouldn’t play 80

Macca 653 - boring, get what you pay for.  Will be tempted to trade out later.

Lucy 646 - he is fun to watch and hasn’t had his purple patch yet.  Don’t trust Tigers and which half he’ll be playing alongside any given week (BTW, noticed Billy Walters is named at 5/8 in ressies this week)

For team balance, Lucy is the better pick.  But I have him ranked lower than the others as less likely to be a keeper.  Also, slimmer pickings at edge than hooker, half.

Love any thoughts on the pick of these four?
    Thanks

Of the 4 I want Hunt but can only afford 1 trade Simkin to Macca or Lucy. Gone with Macca though Lucy is interesting and EDG would be more useful

What's everyones expectation of rank rise/drop this week?

I'm hoping to gain between 1500-3000 ranks based on 50-100 more points than those around me (currently just outside top 11,000).

14 trades remaining. I've got two round 17 players (Walker and Schuster), and I'm planning to trade in CHN, Tohu, Walsh, Taumalolo, Thompson, AFB, and maybe SJ before round 17. Most of these trades will be pretty sideways. That will leave me with 7 or 8 for the run home (bring in Dfifita, Papy, and maybe Haas)

Expecting to go from ~10k to 4-5k this week. Captaincy choices will be huge

Honestly don't know. With 13 (or maybe 14) players I'm hoping to make a decent move up from just over 4000

Have you noticed the guys he brought in though?

Aside from Bird, I'd say anyone who's signed under Griffin is the kind who works well when their role is simplified and they're not asked to do anything outside of that.
McCullough, Alvaro, Beale etc are not creative players but do the basics well. They don't strike me as the kind of player to stand up to their coach/rock the boat either - just get their head down and get on with it.

How many have you got playing? You'd probably have to have 3-4 more than most to rise up that much assuming +-50 points per extra player.

Looking at some random options instead of Mahoney this week

Turpin now with his 80min role back averages 54.2 and 57.5 his last 7 80 minute games. Not bad at 539

To quote danseels “have I lost the plot?” Risking the confused idiocy of kev?

SAME. With 13 (14 with a trade) players, I feel I may have 1-2 more players than most and 99% of them aren't fringe first graders I am bringing in for a week (mostly season keeper potential).

Flegler and Roberts are the only two guys I have who you wouldn't want to play week to week. The other 11 are solid. I'm hoping tonight's game is a bit of a back and forth arm wrestle between two average teams so Flegler can rack up some easy points.

Ranked around 1200 probably be around 3000 I'm guessing with only 11 playing captain Burton probably will play a factor in my rank at the end of the round

I am expecting the same team that beat the Roosters to come out tonight. I reckon Selwyn has one of those massive rookie games and puts himself on the map!
