Not trying to be dick, but having been thinking about it for a while and meant to ask MS who has been banging on about bringing in the captaincy options what he means by that, given that you can only captain one of them. I assume he means high floor high ceiling guys, because you don't want to bring in someone purely for byes who's capable of putting up a 20, which rules out centres and WFB's. I know you also brought him for a potential cash grab too (as I did last week), just a random reflection, sorry for the timing, been meaning bring it up earlier.

Finally caught up to the thread so thought I would answer this. You have pretty much nailed it with high floor high ceiling guys. My 3 guns this week were Leilua(looks like a floor of 50), McCullough(looks like a floor of 40) and Hunt(wanted Mahoney in reality but Hunt looks to have a 40 odd floor). I wouldn't go messing around burning trades to grab your Crichtons, Kellys etc as they could easily post a stinker and make all your planning look stupid. Hynes 10 points at half time showed that even the "gun" outside backs can have a poor half. Put two of those together and you are in trouble

I captained Hynes but im not stupid enough to think a fullback cant put up a poor score.

Did it for fun. Nearly changed to Moses when I saw Rabbits went hynes haha

I think it's an easy trap to get caught by but getting those players is all well and good but team balance would have to come into it to no?  Some would fit if you need a centre or WFB but I guess going back to my first sentence, I wouldn't have even looked at Kelly if he didn't play round 13.  Saying that, in 3 games he's scored me an average of 33 which is acceptable.

Hynes is more of an anomaly IMO.  Not a regular situation I feel.  Round 17 I'll aim at targeting more forwards like CHN, Harris and SST.

Add shithouse bench MID coin goats to your list with the backs however in relation to trading in for bye rounds.

Round 17 not looking like the waste land we initially thought it might be.

When you are far enough down the ladder it stops being important to make the "correct" play every time. But captaining a volatile position like WFB is always a negative EV play that sometimes comes off

Team balance is important to an extent. If you are only able to field 10-15 players in a bye round it's perfectly reasonable for the missing spots to be WFB/CTR. Sure it probably limits your ceiling as those spots are most likely to score tries, but it gives you some pretty guaranteed scores to help with the climb. Regarding centres, I deliberately started the year with 4 that played round 13(Bird, Reimis, Roberts, Niu). Only 3 of them actually made it but the strategy was based around not burning trades on guys that can score like shit

With that said I don't think Brian Kelly is a bad pick and I'll be grabbing Aitken before round 17 as a keeper centre. You just have to be aware that it's a low percentage play

EDIT: I have kind of painted myself into a corner for the next few weeks. No backup WFB or CTR so a late out could force a trade

yeah I rolled the dice on Hynes as well this week, risky, but it didn't turn out too bad. He was a couple plays away from having a big score

    [quote="multiple.scoregasms"]

You wouldnt pay another $80k for Ramien?

Ramien's 2nd lowest score is higher than Aitken's highest score this season and averaging more than 20 more points per game, with the same number of tries.

Averillo another option for $100k more than Aitken, crushing it at Halfback (average 65 with 0 tries and just 1 try assist)

Main targets in the next couple of weeks are Taumalolo, SJ and ARey. AFB a possibility, will see how he looks with high BE. Even Drinkwater might be a punt depending on Dearden's role.

Add Harris/CHN/Schuster/Averillo/Walsh and Suallii/Verrills type cashouts and I'll probably score more in 17 than this week.

Can't argue with most of that. Started with 3 rd 13 centres and brought in two more when they went down. I expect I will be keeping Bird and Peachey as long as they are fit, because for rd 17 I want to concentrate on strategic plays which don't involve centres, happy to cop a zero in that position rather than any other.

It looks like my captain scored 94 points, is there a reason why his score hasn't been doubled yet?

I should've put the C on Albert Kelly... the highest scoring player in my team so far.

Capped Hynes so not great. But overall still going good. Shot up ranks this week from 2372 - 797 with Mahoney, Brailey, Watson, Ipap remaining. And still have trades so could still go all in. Maybe bring in Matto or Sivo. Or Both

Annoyingly, Fogarty wasn't even on my radar a week ago. Someone polled Hughes vs. Fogarty and I landed on Hughes being overpriced and Foggy should have similar output for less..

If the Walker news broke earlier, the community team probably would've gotten a gun forward (Luciano was my pick), but with a few good options locked, Foggy seemed the safest choice left. Only 2 games, so too early to call it, but not the start we were looking for.

Alvaro came through with a couple of 30s and 40s previously at least. Bit of a middle finger way to go out though.

50 not bad for Hynes. Remis got in the way of a try and then the forward pass call on his assist. Goalkicking was ass too. Was worth the punt imo.
