Have gone big on a few diff tryscorer bets haha, but the main ones I like/would recommend:

There's no "grey area of eligibility", the eligibility criteria is quite clear since they redid the rules in 2012. Players who weren't born in NSW or Queensland must have resided in the state before their 13th birthday. It's very black and white.

Queensland, whether they were trying to pull a fast one, or through their own ineptitude, tried to break the rules in place. Nobody is to blame but them.

I do agree that it's pretty black and white. The narrative that NSW just won huge so shouldn't care/raise the issue is silly.

Personally I think the main problem is that it wasn't picked up by the powers that be shortly after the team was named. You'd think there would be some kind of review process for each new debutant to confirm eligibility once named. It could've been shut down early rather than on game day which is an embarrassment all around

I believe it was ineptitude, otherwise stringing poor Ronaldo along like this for 4 years is just cruel.

It’s embarrassing that it’s gone down this way but the outcome is correct.

I’m sure he will have a long and fruitful career for NZ/Samoa/USA/miscellaneous

The close contact places list in Sydney is a legit 10 min read now. This could affect numerous players/teams when it’s all said and done

That is where this story needs to go. Horrible for the bloke, but he should have never been in this position and someone should be accountable for it.

Queensland should be ensuring anyone they name is eligible. And, at the same time, the NRL should be reviewing everyone named to ensure it's accurate. And really that sort of shit should be done before the player even gets told they've been picked as much as possible.

Especially when you have a player you know is born outside of Australia which instantly raises a flag that his eligibility will need to be reviewed.
