77 cases today in Sydney, expected 100+ tomorrow

NRL pretty much is going to have to move out of Sydney or shut down.
Hopefully Sydney teams have been keeping in the bubble to allow an escape

Suncorp can't handle 8 games every week. A couple of hubs (include gold coast + sunshine coast + maybe brisbane suburban grounds) might work better

Silver lining but if there are games at Sunny Coast in August when I'm up that way, I would be stoked (assuming I'm allowed to travel up there).

Has to be a safe bet to relocate comp to SE Qld after today’s game.  2-3 games each round at Suncorp and GC, plus Sunshine coast, Cowboys still at Townsville, and whatever suburban grounds and regional centres they can arrange. Probably see you next year to Sydney the way the numbers are trending

The absolutely ridiculous run of backing 100/1 shots in the golf continues in the betting thread for those interested in the degenerates style of weekend relaxation.

Im not a leaguie,,,,but I'll be honest, for a long time I've wondered why what he did is not done more often.... Its the equivalent of taking a knee in NFL IMO - its smart - dont give the opposition a chance to win.

But, if it is common knowledge in league that its a dick move, and not in the spirit of the game, then I guess that is different...,

He’ll do it one day and either get mowed down with no support, or a team will force a drop out or scrum. Then he won’t do it again.

I think you could say a number of things about it.

You could call it a smart play - running the clock down to cement a result with essentially zero risk.

You could also describe it as disrespectful to the opposition and the effort that they had put in to the prior 79 mins 40s (or respectful because you respect them enough to not want to give them any chance).

For mine, it was slightly comical, but not really where I'd like to see things head.
It's within the laws of the game, but not within the spirit of the game.

The counter argument being that there are plenty of things that occur every game that probably aren't in the spirit of the game (some being rule changes/interpretations by the administrators of the game).

Realistically we probably won't see it much/ever again - and it'll be quickly forgotten - certainly not worth much heat

I think its weird that people are acting like its the first time a player has ever done it. I can remember players doing it when i was a kid 30 years ago.

I think walker was caught out by how long was actually left. Ie he initially thought he could just jog over the sideline but in reality 10 seconds is a long time.

Even if he did just run over the sideline they wouldnt have packed a scrum in time anyway

    I found it entertaining Smile

Like I dont get it, whats the difference between that and guys taking 20 seconds to get uo off the ground every tackle for the last two or three sets before the end of the game. People getting their panties in a twist.

Definitely. I remember someone doing it in Super League - Nikau at the Rams running around in circles? Also Craig Gower did it once but botched it by kicking the ball out through his own in goal, and was ordered to do a line dropout.

Also half the games seem to end with 10-20 seconds to go as players celebrate instead of playing the ball, or just start shaking hands. It’s the same thing without the running
