Sharks have a spot now, maybe they will offer hayne a lifeline with Holmes off chasing the pigskin

Klemmer signs with newie for 5 years.... excellent

If we dont get many injuries, top 4 is a very realistic goal for us. Missing finals would be an absolute disaster. 7/8 this is prob where newie will end up. A very exciting season coming up for the knights

Looking good for the Knights, especially if they end up getting Segeyaro.

I'm interested to see the starting team as I believe they have more then 17 first graders in that squad.

    1 Watson
    2 SKD
    3 S Mat
    4 Ramien
    5 Lee

    6 Ponga
    7 Pearce

    8 Klemmer
    9 Levi (possibly Segeyaro)
    10 Ese Ese/ Glasby
    11 Barnett
    12 Fitzgibben
    13 Guerra

    14 Glasby/ Ese Ese
    15 Gavat
    16 D Saifiti
    17 Buhrer

    others
    Hunt
    King
    Moga
    Ross
    Lino
    Stone
    Saulo

They have some depth this year and will get a good ISP cup team if they don't have many injuries. Top 4 is definitely in reach for the NRL team for sure.

Whats your team Pieman, your guess would be better than mine

would be pretty similar to that mate!
I think Gavet might struggle to get a start in the 17 without injury tho.

I do think Ponga will make a good fist of it at 6 but I really would prefer if we kept him at 1.
Would love to see us punt Watson and go after Johnson.

On paper, top 4 is realistic but in reality bottom half of the 8 is most likely were we will end up.

So it's OK for Brown to pay overs to bring players to Newcastle and ignore local juniors but not when Bennett did it.

We signed the best Australian prop in the game who is 24 years old..
Not 46 year old Jeremy smith, 90 year old craig gower, busted Beau scott, depressed Darius and so on.

Who has he paid overs for?
    Connor watson prob
    Ponga is a steal
Pearce is on normal elite half money
Klemmer is on 4.2 over 5 years.. thats hardly overs for the best Australian prop in the league

bennett built a team to try and win NOW, with no regard for the future.
Brown is signing young players and clearly building for the future

To be perfectly honest our locals haven't been good enough. Lamb? Feeney? Pass. Meaney I felt had potential but there's only so much loyalty one can show someone when the players aren't great. Buy young players that show talent not aging stars to attempt to create a premiership window that was never there. I don't believe we've paid overs for anyone just yet but that remains to be seen.

really? Tinkler told him to disregard the future?

To be fair, if we won the comp during bennetts stint, we prob wouldnt have cared as much about the slide after bennys sacking. But we didnt, we missed the 8 twice and jagged a gf qualifier

Oh HS... Jaleen Feeney... far out. He is just about the worst first grader I have ever seen.
I liked Lamb but yep, we picked Watson over him basically. Lamb showed this year that he over achieved in the back end of 2017, he was terrible.
I would have liked to have him around still tho. Meaney is the one we will miss, yep. He looks like he will be classy. But we picked ponga over him, so ill live with it.

    Guerra. SKD. Mata'utia

And Klemmer isnt a bad signing but you already have too many props on the books and no decent halves.

    Matutia is a newcastle jr.....
Did they pay overs for SKD?
Guerra I agree with considering his age and the length of the deal. It bad but I mean, its no ben hunt situation.
No sides rely solely on local Jrs.

    Too many props?
    Daniel saifiti
    Glasby
    Ese Ese (13)
    Gavet
    Josh King
    Saulo
Guerra/barnett (share back row and 13)
    Klemmer

We have 8 blokes to go between 3 starting middle forward spots and 2 bench middle forward spots. How is that too many lol.

Halves.. pearce, ponga, watson, Mason Lino. Buhrer fills in when there is an injury. Phoenix Crosslands is a young gun that we have.
It would have been nice to hold on to lamb though, yep.

Prop and half are by no means the biggest worry. Its hooker.

Still paid overs to keep Sione.

    + the other Saifiti
    + you listed 9 blokes, not 8.
    + Buhrer could be a 13

11 blokes to share 3 starting spots and 1.5 bench spots. Crowded.

Sione Mata'utia moving back into a concussion role, i.e back row, according to the coach. Another forward for the already over crowded forward pack.

"Tau is slowly building back into it and hopefully he'll be out of rehab by later in December," Brown said. "Obviously we've got our fingers crossed for Tau for round one. Jesse Ramien is definitely going to be our right centre – we're excited about him as a prospect."
It means Sione Mata'utia, who played the majority of 2018 in the centres, will move back to the second row.

Will Browny play an 80min hooker to accommodate an extra forward on the bench?

it's no secret that Tinkler brought Bennett in and basically told him he wanted the nibs to win a premiership yesterday, long-terms plans are always going to suffer when you're expected to manufacture immediate success.

Pearce is being payed as an elite half - which he isn't.
Watson is ordinary on good day
    Ponga is a fullback
    Lino is worse then Watson

He's near the top level of club halfbacks, being poor at rep level is arguably good for Newcastle.
