2019 NIB Knights

Pearce is elite at club level. Poo in origin, and will never be picked again there at his age compared to Cleary etc. I'd have him at the Broncos in an instant for sure, especially knowing he won't miss a couple of club matches at rep time. I would also have every one of those halfbacks listed above ahead of Niko, except for maybe Keary, and that's because I don't think Keary and Milford would work. Any halfback who can kick more than 30 metres on the 5th tackle would be a start.

And the Knights finish above the Broncos in 2019? I very much doubt it.

You would think that the first choice NSW halves next season will be Maloney and Cleary again.
Keary would be next in line then they would look at Pearce.

I still like the idea of Pearce playing hooker at rep level.

Knights have signed Kurt Mann for 3 years. I like him as a player but not sold on him as a hooker. Good cover for anywhere in the backs too. Good signing.

Haven't seen enough of him at hooker to edge. He's a good defender so the D isn't anything to worry about but can he pick the right options out of dummy half? Going to be hard to say yes at this stage. Although with Bedsy there helping him he's got the best coach you could ask for.

Thats what I mean HS, I dont think ive ever seen him play hooker. Is his defence good? Ive only ever seen him play wing, fullback and a little bit of half... is it good enough to play in the middle for longer periods? Does he have the size to be playing in the middle?

He came through as a 6, I wouldnt be against him having a shot there if there is an injury or if the watson/ponga switch doesnt work.

In past years we definitely lose that game, so its great to see us stick in the grind and come away with the win.

you guys defended strongly tho, even last year when everyone was saying knights were on the up, you were still literally giving away 3-4 tries all the time

We didn't concede a single try. That's what appeals to me. It was a penalty try that was given but no legit try was scored. That's got to be good for the confidence. Penrith were horrible last week and I'm expecting them to be better, so hopefully we match it with them and can be 2-0 against fancied opponents.

Personally I dont think you can rely on Edrick Lee to do what he did against the Sharks every week. They genuinely bombed a few tries.

We did defend well though relative to recent history. Very happy we stuck in the grind and got the win.

I really like the side this year. They are going to be very fun to watch.

talk is ponga will be back at 1 this week. Thank fuck. Why move a player who could be the best 1 in the comp to 6 so early in his career, just to accommodate an average fullback.

Glasby is not a starting lock. Very good bench player but jeez he is garbage when starting.
Sione has been one of newcastle's best but ... guerra and barnett are on the bench to get him in the starting side. I like sione but jeez, he is holding some talent out of the starting team.
Picking someone like josh king over Herman.. wtf. I read the report that herman wants to go back to NZ, if so, let him go. Dont hold him reserve grade, he is a quality player and should be in the firsts team.

Personally, I think watson should be the #14 with either Lino or Mann at 6.

Hooker is still a massive issue for us and I hope we are in the ring to try and get Brailey. Levi just aint it.
There is so much potential there but there needs to be some tweaking now that we are 1 from 3.

Finally Ponga back where he should be, he is an out and out 1 for mine, like Slater. I wouldn't ever waste time putting him back in the line.
